I understand that you think it preposterous for law enforcement officers to have a duty to obey the Constitution. You are perhaps among those who think that the words, "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" are so complicated that common persons cannot be trusted to interpret them.
Our nation was founded shortly after the government sent troops to confiscate arms from the people. Those troops were shot at and some killed. If it was the right thing to do in Massachusetts in 1775 then it will probably be the right thing to do in Connecticut in 2014.
