Sepang, 9 March 2014: Malaysia Airlines humbly asks all Malaysians and people around the world to pray for flight MH370.It has been more than 24 hours since we last heard from MH370 at 1.30 am. The search and rescue team is yet to determine the whereabouts of the Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
An international search and rescue mission from Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam was mobilized this morning. At this stage, they have failed to find evidence of any wreckage. The sea mission will continue overnight while the air mission will recommence at daylight.
We are dispatching all information as and when we receive it. The situation in Beijing is also being monitored closely. As many families of passengers are in China, we have deployed our “Go Team” to Beijing with a team of caregivers and volunteers to assist the family members of the passengers.
Immediate families of passengers are advised to gather at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Travel arrangements and expenses will be borne by Malaysia Airlines. Once, the whereabouts of the aircraft is determined, Malaysia Airlines will fly members of the family to the location.
Our sole priority now is to provide all assistance to the families of the passengers and our staff. We are also working closely with the concerned authorities in the search and rescue operation

Sepang, 8 March 2014: Malaysia Airlines is still unable to establish any contact or determine the whereabouts of flight MH370. Earlier today, Subang ATC had lost contact with the aircraft at 2.40am. The last known position of MH370 before it disappeared off the radar was 065515 North (longitude) and 1033443 East (latitude).We are still trying to locate the current location of the flight based on the last known position of the aircraft. We are working with the International search and rescue teams in trying to locate the aircraft. So far, we have not received any emergency signals or distress messages from MH370. We are working with authorities and assure that all sources are deployed to assist with the search and rescue mission.
The passenger manifest will not be released until all families of the passengers have been informed. The flight was carrying a total number of 239 passengers and crew – comprising 227 passengers (including 2 infants) and 12 crew members.
We are deploying our “Go Team” to Beijing which will depart Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 4.30pm with a team of caregivers and volunteers to assist the family members of the passengers.
The passengers are of 14 different nationalities. All crew on-board are Malaysians.
Please take note that the earlier statement did not include the number of Indian nationals. This was due to confusion between the country code of Indonesia and India.

BEIJING — Two passengers on the flight manifest for the Malaysian jetliner that vanished with 239 on board weren't on board the plane, foreign ministry officials in Italy and Austria said Saturday. Italian news agency ANSA reported that the Italian citizen whose name is on the passenger manifest, Louis Maraldi, 37, from Cesena, was not aboard the plane and had phoned his parents to say that he is well. He had reported his passport stolen Aug. 1 in Thailand. The Italian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the Italian was not on board the aircraft.
At the same time, Austrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Weiss told the AP that a name listed on the manifest matches an Austrian passport reported stolen two years ago in Thailand.

I know someone who has flown all their life, been to all 7 continents, flown all over the world. He has always said they should triple the price of airfare to weed out the rift raft....LOL! I don’t know if I agree with him but I can see how he came to that conclusion with some of the people he has seen on an airplane.
I remember when flying was fun and a family experience. I remember just walking thru the thing to see if u had a gun, that was all. My mom used to carry her min pin right on to the plane (first class) and they never said a word. I am not kidding. She flew back and forth from Colombia many times with that dog. Now flying is something u dread!!
We r flying this summer for the first time with our son to Michigan. I am now having 2nd thoughts. Of course I was having these thoughts when we decided to fly but I don’t want my son to never fly. However, Michigan has a large population of Muslims in Dearborn so I have been warned to be prepared that there will probably be more than a few on the plane!!!
I loved the good old days of flying when people dressed up and looked nice. We were served good meals and the planes were never all the way booked. Also, walking out on the tarmac to board and no security. I can’t stand “travel day” now.
The passports were stolen two years ago.
How were the passengers with the stolen cards allowed on board? Wouldn’t those passports have been reported stolen and then the #’s put on some type of international do not fly list?
Hell, after all the security we have to go through these days just to get from LA to Las Vegas. And yes, I too hate the hassle at the airport, I’d rather travel by car.

I do remember the days of getting dressed up to fly. And u r right, the planes were never packed! Flying was a privilege and the experience was fun for the most part.
I’m an equal hater-—I don’t want some big white mama feeling me up, either…..especially since I’d be unarmed…..(Just another reason not to fly.)
I’ve been everywhere foreign I ever wanted to visit, and if I can’t drive there, I don’t go there these days.
The one part of my state that I have never visited is the Big Bend. We’re tossing around the idea of driving out there one of these days.
Doesn't help if there is a conspiracy to let fake passports through at a Muslim airport.
This was Malaysia, a Muslim country.
Muslim TSA is not our TSA. They could have let them through as part of the plan.

I guess it is much the same for me now, but I do not have or need a car. If I can not go by bicycle, boat, or bus, I do not go. The US is the only place that I know where one must own a car.
Darn! I guess you just landed in the wrong country.
I’ve lived in several places in America, and not used
a car. It’s totally possible to make that choice here.
