These memorials ar all over the public roads around here. They are taken down after a while by the hwy department because they are eyesores and I personally find them in disgustingly poor taste. Cross/star of David / whatever. I find them in questionable taste as I do the etched glass or decal memorials on the rear windows of cars.
Memorials should be in your heart, not the mean streets nor the back windows of cars that will rust and be crushed
If the memorial was on their property I wish them well. If it was just on the side of a public road, I say no.
Sorry, but the First Amendment trumps what you believe to be in “disgustingly poor taste.”
These memorials are not on private property against the will of the land owner, but are on public land.
Sometimes they may be at the corner of an intersection or on the side or the road or just off the sidewalk near a home or hospital where someone died or even sometimes near an abortion mill where thousands have been murdered.
Again, it is a First Amendment Right.

Your opinion only. Doesn’t mean that everyone else agrees, nor should they have to obey your wishes or anyone
elses. These are public roads and right-of-ways, and belong to all taxpayers.
Maybe it’s just you and me, but free exercise of religion does not entitle one to post memorials on public property. That’s because the posting essentially excludes other uses (including an unobstructed and undistracted view).
Having a tragedy on public property does not confer ownership.
The memorials are no more justified that a “I lost 20 pounds” sign.
But, hey, I’m a conservative, and I realize that conservative principles apply even when it goes contrary to my emotions and personal preference.
