The search for a commercial jetliner that seemingly vanished without warning between Malaysia and Vietnam continued into the night as dark fell on Asia, officials said.
-snip-
For instance, after the airline released a manifest, Austria denied that one of its citizens was onboard the flight as the list stated. The Austrian citizen was safe and sound, and his passport had been stolen two years ago, Austrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Weiss told CNN.
Similarly, Italy's foreign ministry confirmed that no Italians were onboard MH370, even though an Italian was listed on the manifest. Malaysian officials said they were aware of reports that the Italian's passport was also stolen, but had not confirmed it.

You might find the situation with Venezuelan planes interesting. Apparently, a lot of luggage has been going aboard those planes, far more than can be accounted for by the number of passengers.
Clearly, airline security has some loopholes.
Could be. I don't remember which province it was, but IIRC south China had a burgeoning myslim population that made demands of establishing a sharia "state" within China a few years ago. The Chinese military put them down pretty hard, so this could be a muslim terror attack in retaliation.
Doubt we'll ever know the truth since the Chinese have a long history of brutally squashing dissidents and covering up their disappearances. No reason to think they wouldn't do the same here.
They carried them aboard -- hiding the components somewhere other than next to their genitals -- which is the only part of a person that gets seriously searched these days.
Three Americans, including an infant — Nicole Meng, Philip Wood, Yan Zhang.
Targeting the global media to demonstrate that they can still bring down planes in order to fill hand-wringers everywhere with "terror."
Did you miss the multiple casualty uyghur train platform knife attack last week?
DING! Winner. That's the group that demanded China establish a separate sharia state a few years ago. (Could have been longer, my memory is going bad in my older years.) The Chinese put them down very hard at the time, very likely this is a revenge attack.
No one seems to have picked up on the obvious ‘conspiracy theory’ yet.
I think the flight passed over some North Korean SAM installation, and some stressed out NK Officer mis-identified the airliner as a bogey and fired one off.
Don’t need explosives if the pilot and co-pilot are willing to turn off the black box and dive into the ocean.
They were mentioning on the news last week about being wary of foreign flights coming to the US because they thought the “shoe bomb” was back.
You’re probably thinking of the Uyghurs, primarily in far northwestern China in a province that abuts pretty much all the -stans.
I suppose that’s possible, but isn’t Korea close to the end of the flight path?
Our MSM is doing a very careful investigation to see whether any of the Americans belonged to the Tea Party.
Wasn’t Uyghurs the guy that worked at MSNBC. I guess he spawned a whole tribe of himself. These lefties won’t stop they’re mayhem.
Interesting fact... One passport was from Italy, the other from Austria. That means two people boarding who probably were Caucasian in appearance. Uyghur in appearance... not likely. The passports were both stolen in Thailand, the Austrian’s was two years ago and the Italian’s was stolen last August. This was a well planned operation... They need to find the persons who stole the passports because there will likely be very little evidence left from the plane wreckage, if any.
Little correction: You CAN’T turn off the black box. It runs constantly, and the pilots have nothing to say about it.
that’s a 767. you’re spreading incorrect information
