UPDATE [12:37]: Tuoi Tre, a leading daily in Vietnam, reports that the Vietnamese Navy has confirmed the plane crashed into the ocean. According to Navy Admiral Ngo Van Phat, Commander of the Region 5, military radar recorded that the plane crashed into the sea at a location 153 miles South of Phu Quoc island.
When contacted, Malaysia Airlines declined to confirm or deny the reports, saying that the Malaysian authorities are working together with the Vietnamese government on the matter.
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera reports that China has dispatched two maritime rescue ships to help locate the missing plane.

What is your basis for saying it’s probably terrorism? Based on absolutely zero evidence? Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. But providing an opinion that it is based on no evidence at all is foolish.
It COULD be many things... Spirits, Demons, Aliens, Transdimensionals, Transtemporals...
“But providing an opinion that it is based on no evidence at all is foolish.”
... well, that is why it is called an opinion vs. a belief or conviction or even an informed opinion. Opinions are like noses, everyone has one... well except Michael Jackson.
So why do you think its Terrorism? If thats your opinion... why?
“So why do you think its Terrorism? If thats your opinion... why?”
1. I never expressed an opinion.
2. I was commenting back on yours as I read the thread.
3. I don’t have an opinion on this.
People here love to immediately jump to Moslem terrorism, or also Obama or Putin diversionary tactics. All they do is make us look as ridiculous as the Leftists and their conspiracies, most notably the “could not possibly be Moslem but evil Americans” 9/11 truther garbage.
My guess is generally some major accident. Weather, or failure, I don’t know. I already wrote my opinions. This wasn’t out in the open as Moslems like, so I can’t believe it’s Moslem terrorism. I could be wrong, but I don’t yet see the earmarks. I also don’t believe Obama would do these level of things, and to pick some podunk airline across the world for it is ludicrous.
I understand the continued necessity of the black box as a signal-beacon should something go wrong and the plane needs to be found, but doesnt the technology exist to transmit all flight data in real-time?
Emergency Locator Transmittor...beacon
"Black Box"...flight data recorder
Two different pieces of equipment.
Look up Bojinka plot and you can see that blowing up a plane over the ocean is not a new idea. I’m not saying this is what happened, but it is definitely in the Jihad cards.
A jet crash in Asia is not much of a diversion. This will be off the front page in the United States by Saturday afternoon.
Sounds like a Center Fuel Tank problem to me...
China Airlines Flight 6 (in 1985) plunged 32,000 feet and a crash was narrowly averted. The cause was completely pilot error, so let’s think about that before being so sure that it was terrorism or Chinese EMP attack.
CC
But that's just my idea, based on pure speculation.
Last night on the Kelly File, one aviation expert commenting on the matter of weather-related causes for a crash said that weather should NOT have been an issue for this flight, as it clearly was for the flight of the Air France jet that just “fell” into the ocean.
Would not surprise me if it goes in either direction. Tense times we do live in.
Thanks for the clarification. I always just assumed the Emergency beacon was housed in the same Black Box container as the data recorder.
I think the black box data recorder will be nothing more than a backup system, if the technology that tcrlaf mentioned earlier in the thread ever comes online.
“16 years wishing Free Republic had an edit function.”
Wonder if Jim Rob could provide that for the $/day monthly donors?
Bit harsh that.
I’m gonna say you’re wrong about that. The Muslim terrorist part. It is completely reasonable to speculate that Muslim terrorism may be involved, as reasonable as any other speculation at this point.
Instant decompression would do that.
