A Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 239 people has lost contact with air traffic control and was still missing two hours after it was supposed to have landed in Beijing, the airline said Saturday morning.
The airline told NBC News that a search-and-rescue mission was under way but said it had no further information.
The flight from Kuala Lumpur, carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members, had been scheduled to land at 6:30 a.m. in Beijing (5:30 p.m. ET Friday).
They flew into bad weather that other flights avoided. The instruments stopped working temporarily due to icing (a known Airbus problem) and then the pilots demonstrated that they did not know how to fly.

False flag?
If the last altitude reported in post #9 of 35,000 feet is accurate a Stinger (and likely any other man portable missile) wouldn't get close to it. Most sites I've seen say the max altitude is around 10,000 feet, and that's for a perfect engagement angle and speed.
Not at 35,000 feet. You might as well shoot at it with a pistol.
15 minutes, press conference.
Also, if it ran out of fuel, it was because it would run out after 7 hours in the air it seems I heard. I’m no expert.
Yep, and why do that when they could use a missile on take off, over a city with a near capacity aircraft, heavy, with full tanks of fuel. Plus they’d get all the collateral damage on ground impact.
My bet no missile no bomb....But who knows at this point.
Fox News reported that according to the Chinese media, there were 160 Chinese on board, not sure about the other passengers, just that there were 13 additional nationalities on board..could be another Air France type of incident, a hijacking storming the cockpit, could be possible, but it would have had to take something pretty catastrophic for a plane to just fall out of the sky
Unlikely, as they'd have time to contact ATC if that were the case.
Because China was the only major country they hadn’t really pissed off?
It was a 777-200. with full tanks it can fly about 18 hours.
.
Tonkin the off the east coast of Vietnam, between Nothing and South Vietnam.
This is the Russian 9M33 (SA-8 Gecko) surface-to-air missile, one that is normally launched from a specially-made tracked vehicle. Many were sold to client states in the Middle East during the Soviet era, and it's possible terrorists may have jury-rigged a system to launch this missile from a boat, complete with radar guidance system. The maximum height of this missile is 12,000 meters (around 39,000 feet), within the normal cruising altitude of the 777-200ER.
On Fox News with an interview Scott Hamilton an Boeing 777 expert stated could also be a Pilot Suicide...YIKES!!!
The plane was only in the air for about 2 hours from what I Hear..how long does it take to fly from Malaysia to Beijing? From the map it doesn’t look like it would be a long flight, maybe what, 5-6 hours, kind of like flying from California to New York or am I wrong
That happened with an Egyptian airlines in I believe 1999, the Pilot wanted to off himself so he plunged the plane into the sea
At an altitude that high? I thought they were for under 5000 feet.
Total system failure? That would be very unusual.
When stuff goes wrong, they would usually be able to get a call out.
