A Seattle teen shot and killed a man for his cellphone then went to a friends house and complained the stolen gizmo wasnt nice enough, police say.
Byron White, 17, now faces charges as an adult for killing David Peterson last month in the Washington citys Greenwood neighborhood.
White was on the lam for a week after the shooting until cops caught up to him at the airport last weekend as the boy tried to board a flight to Atlanta, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported.
David Peterson went out for a walk around the neighborhood after dinner and never returned, King County prosecuting attorney Dan Satterberg said in a statement. He was a random victim from a chance encounter with a dangerous young man. That the evidence shows he was murdered for his cellphone by a teenager with a gun makes this all the more tragic and senseless.
The Ballard High School student approached Peterson, 54, around 8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 and punched him in the head in a robbery attempt, the Post-Intelligencer reported.
Peterson fought back and went to a parking lot, where he called 911 to report the attempted theft. But as Peterson spoke, he saw White coming back for him and warned the dispatcher his attacker was returning.
The dispatcher heard Peterson tell his alleged attacker that he was not going to hand over the phone when the line suddenly went dead, the newspaper reported.
Responding officers found Peterson dead, shot once in the chest. The suspect had fled the scene, but cops found one 9-mm. bullet casing on scene.

I don’t know. But I’d like to see some actual statistics. As cynical as I am, I’m not willing to simply assume actual incarceration rates have remained static or gotten shorter
Over the last twenty years, sentences of ‘Life Without Parole’ for murderers have increased significantly in many States. Not the usual liberal bastions, of course, but I’d be interested in knowing if there has been any real shifts in the national averages.
I’ll see what I can find if you will...
Ferals are out there. Be aware...carry.
I found this:
http://www.bjs.gov/index.cfm?ty=pbdetail&iid=2045
The information is not laid out as simply as the 1995 report you posted, but the 2009 data seems to indicate significantly longer median prison times for convicted murderers than reported in 1995. It’s going to take a bit of time for me to determine whether any of this data can be validly compared to the 1995 report, and I cannot do it right now, but I thought I’d post the link just in case you are interested.
PS - The longer incarceration times indicated by this data are STILL not long enough, in my opinion.
Pathetic piece of humanity.

Thanks!
That looks like interesting stuff. Especially since it’s state-by-state
Peterson was only white, and therefore disposable. Now, when someone like Trayvon dies, he's so very, very precious we should all be in mourning.
Who paid for his plane ticket to Atlanta? Any arrests for aiding and abetting?
Punch in the head, close range bullet in the chest. Anything less isn’t justice. Oh- at the scene of the crime too. Eventually sanitation will pick up the carcass.
It is Washington State, My FRiend, if he gets 30 days it is considered a long term. If the guy he murdered happened to be White he will be considered a local hero by the media for striking a blow for justice and Travon Martin.
They usually the term, “troubled teen” when they kill someone. If the victim happens to kill the “troubled teen”, the “troubled teen” then becomes an aspiring brain surgeon that is “turning his life around”.

‘Our president... Barraco Barner’
