Russia scuttled it. If a Demo team approached they would simply wave them off (under arms) claiming salvage rights. “No, Anatov, that was a mistake we made, she sunk accidently! We wish to raise this ship so it can sail again! Will only take 5 months or so!”
In Russian, it would be "... he sunk accidently."
I think it would be "sank accidently, but whatever.
