You are correct......
also, women volunteers don’t pay taxes
I agree that only employed people are more charitable, because they can be. This year, with so many unemployed, and Obamacare taxes hitting below the belt, the level of economic stress is just intolerable for many.
I used to work at the American Red Cross many years ago. We knew that when the economy is poor, people don’t volunteer or donate money as much. Volunteerism is linked to wealth and self esteem. When you’re out of work, you have less of both and therefore, less volunteerism.
Yeah, kids in high school are now coerced to “volunteer”. The effect of this is creating conservatives, as the kids volunteering see about 10% of the people who actually need help, and 90% of the rest fat, lazy, and extremely rude, while wondering why they have to help people perfectly capable of helping themselves. It was an eye opening experience for them.
Can't say for sure what the overall effect is -- but my son and his friends all know the reality of 'volunteer' requirement, because I've pointed it out to them and they get it.
Other kids might see it for themselves, and others will just accept it without realizing what is being done. Not that they won't figure it out later.
Does the 40% in slave taxes I pay count?
