This is not husseins fault. The economy is doing great. These stores are being closed because it got cold for a few days. Yeah, that’s it.

Radio Shack would be in the toilet no matter who was president.

Last Christmas we planned on buying several high tech items as gifts. Went to all the stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Office Max, etc, picked out what we wanted and then bought it at Amazon.

The economy is certainly a part of this.
But another significant part is change in the way retail selling is done.

Many of the brick and mortar stores are, as the MBA consultants term it, “over-facilitized”

Staples is helping kill itself. It has reduced the amount and variety of bona fide office supplies from each section of their stores and has replaced them with an entire section of heavily marked-up household cleaning supplies, coffee filters, snacks, etc.

What moron made this decision? Individuals and small businesses will NOT buy heavily marked up cleaning supplies and sundries at Staples. They will go next door to a retail store to save money. Or they will go down the block to Sam's Club or Costco to buy the items in bulk to save even more money.

I regularly shopped at Staples for convenience purchases of unique office supplies I immediately needed that day. Now those items are no longer on the shelves at Staples. Their sales clerks tell me that I can still buy those same unique items from Staples online, but I really don't want to wait or pay for shipping. And if I'm going to now be forced to purchase these items online in advance of need, why wouldn't I just order it directly online from the manufacturer or wholesaler?

Stupid, stupid, stupid sales strategy!!!

It reeks of a company that knows its end is near.
