You mean the "conservatives" in the RINO party who enthusiastically erected the Surveillance State?
Them? They're gonna put the genie back in the bottle?
Gimme a break.
Agreed.
Information is power, politicians crave power.
Abolishment of the NSA will always be rejected by politicians.
Exactly. The RINO’s are not for, and never have been for, smaller government.
They’re just in favor of running the large, intrusive government their way.
Bingo. Another electoral opportunity that will be squandered because RINOs can’t stomach being conservative about much of anything.
Look at the ages of tea party people vs GOPe. This is a generational shift, and tea party people need to listen to millenials on this.
They’re not even all that hot for running the place, they just want to maintain their sinecures.
Absolutely
My guess is that the millenials are not basically conservative. They still want all the government “freebies” and handouts, they just don’t want the government looking over their shoulders while they watch porn on their iPads.
They want to have their cake and eat it, too. They want to live in a land of make-believe with rainbows and skittle crapping unicorns.
That’s why they all voted for 0bama. And would vote for him again.
“need to listen to millenials”
Why? Those kids have no problem with big government. I prefer to listen to the founding fathers and the Constitution.
Very good summary. RINOs and Dems differ only on who holds the lash and how steep is the hill we are sliding down. I’m still looking for a party that seriously believes the Constitution is a valid contract between the people and the government.
“My guess is that the millenials are not basically conservative.”
Yes, but you could have gone back and said that about each and every generation of young people in recent memory. They never start out basically conservative, we have to win them over. Here’s an opportunity to get a foot in the door, on an issue that is important to them, but we can’t take it, because we’ve allowed our party to take too contradictory a position on the issue to be seen as standing for the right principles.
Listen to whoever you want, but neither the founding fathers nor the Constitution can vote, so they can only help us so much.
Mine sure do... and I've got four of the things. :D
That’s a pretty fair assessment.
Agree 10,000%
The only conservative influences on young people today is The Church, and Rush Limbaugh, starting from 6 months ago.
Even here at FR I see the fashion is to simply dump on all young people as hopeless lazy ingrates.
Are most of them like that? Why, yes.
But it’s hopeless only if we SAY that it is and then act that way.
Well, gosh, I guess that pesky old constitution is outdated and we should just ignore it because a bunch of spoiled brat crybabies don’t like it.
No, we shouldn’t ignore it. However, if you ignore the electorate, you’ll be waving your Constitution around outside the corridors of power, accomplishing nothing.
If we don’t want that, then we are going to have to pick up some new votes from somewhere, the way the demographics are going. The RINOs think they can get them from illegal immigrants by passing amnesty, but we know those votes will go to the Dems. Same thing goes for the gay votes, and most of the black votes. So who is left to go after, to replace the voters we are going to lose to attrition very soon?
The first politician to effectively engage the Millenials on this issue wins.
