Another show trial. Contempt would have been the move here. Cutting funding to the IRS would have been another move, and one I’d think would be pretty popular with the American people.

The targeting, which on a bipartisan basis, is something nobody wants in general, since one side will use it on the other, and vice versa.

You use this as the wedge for a flat tax of 10 percent, and you move on. Everyone pays it - 10 percent - no deductions.

Game over.

A flat tax like this would be much fairer. Unfortunately the corporatists and representatives and lobbyists for the low-income types paying zero percent tax won't allow it.
