Today, a Supervisor with the Department of Homeland Security called a member of our legal team to inform us that the Romeike family has been granted indefinite deferred status. This means that the Romeikes can stay in the United States permanently (unless they are convicted of a crime, etc.)
This is an incredible victory that can only be credited to our Almighty God.
We also want to thank those of who spoke up on this issueincluding that long ago White House petition. We believe that the public outcry made this possible while God delivered the victory.
Via Home School Legal Defense Association . Michael Farris, chairman for the Home School Legal Defense Association, announced Tuesday afternoon that a supervisor with the Department of Homeland Security said that a Morristown family has been granted indefinite deferred status.
Essentially this means that Uwe and Hannelore Romeike and their children can stay in the United States permanently unless they commit a crime or otherwise violate the terms of their status.
The Romeikes immigrated to America from Germany after running afoul of a German law requiring children attend public school or an approved private school offering the state-approved curriculum. The Romeikes, conservative Christians who objected to several parts of the state curriculum, preferred to home school their children.
In refusing to send their children to public school, the Romeikes racked up heavy fines and faced the threat of having their children removed from their home. They left for America before that could happen.
Once in Morristown, they began the long process of seeking political asylum, which was initially granted in 2010, but lost on appeal. In the four years since, the case worked its way to the steps of the Supreme Court which Monday announced it would not hear the case, leaving several of the Romeikes supporters in fear that the family would be deported.
Roughly 24 hours later, that was no longer a fear.
Praise Him from the rooftops.
Our God is great and good.
Yup. They ain’t “his people”.
Amen!
Crime, in this case, meaning saying something negative about Obama in the media.
This is good news. Unfortunately the precedent has been established that religious persecution by a nation’s education system is no grounds for political asylum. No other families need apply.
Obummer can’t decide which side of his toast to butter, so I doubt he figured this could be used “as a stick to beat Democtrats.”
Yes, I agree. We need to thank the Lord for this victory and work very hard to change our culture and our leadership in D.C.
“Color me shocked.....”
Me too! Bet the Krauts are going to be Pi$$ed! I guess at the end of the day, Germany is still run by the Nazis. The idea that “The State” doesn’t want any “competition” fits the Nazi model. “ Now you vill just eat your sausages, and you vil like zem.”
How long, I wonder, before they have to fight that same fight here.
Then where will they (and a million others) go?
Oh...right.
This case (and the SCOTUS refusal to hear) came up just last night at an anti Common Core meeting and lecture. I am relieved to learn of this development. I was very depressed on hearing the news that SCOTUS would not give these folks a hearing.
We love them.
I’m rejoicing with them! This administration is allergic to bad press. Thank God for all those who spoke up and spoke out until the clamor became uncomfortable for America’s enemies in Washington. I’m so glad to have folks like these a part of our country. Thank God for their neighbors who stood alongside of them. Germany has shamed itself by its coercive policies and its devaluation of individual freedoms in favor of some state mandated belief system. we must not forget where Germany and Eric Holder stood on this issue.
Our Lord is a powerful force when something must be made
right. PTL!!
Are people in the beauracracies ignoring or SOB in chief now?
Good news; just too bad we have to fight for justice at every turn.
A resounding “Whatever!” on the details ... this is a WIN.
FReep you and the blrgthryth you rode in on, Eric Holder!
Maybe SCOTUS just gets sick of being blamed, though they do deserve it many times, as we know.
This is such an easy case. Someone with some hatred for goodness was just going to keep saying no until it became so obvious the contrast that this case would present even to the stupidest of dem voters.
The photo image of the group of natl. Sec staff at the table with BO yesterday comes to mind.
Stubborn and unmerciful reflects in the faces of the negotiators.
