MOSCOW, March 3 (RIA Novosti) The Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday condemned as unacceptable threats comments made by the US Secretary of State John Kerry over possible Russian military action in Ukraine. The Russian parliament granted a request from President Vladimir Putin to authorize deployment of military forces in Ukraine on Saturday. In a series of public remarks over the weekend, Kerry called the move a "brazen act of aggression" and threatened Moscow with devastating economic and political consequences. We consider there are unacceptable threats against Russia in the series of public statements by Secretary of State John Kerry in connection with the recent events in Ukraine and Crimea, the ministry said in a statement. "Without bothering to grasp the complicated trends underway in Ukrainian society and to gain an unbiased insight into the situation that continues to deteriorate after the violent seizure of power by radical extremists in Ukraine, the Secretary of State continues to employ Cold War clichés by suggesting punishment of Russia instead of those responsible for the state coup. The statement continued: Washington also ignored that Kievs newly established regime trampled on the February 21 [reconciliation] agreement, signed by foreign ministers of Germany, France and Poland, and formed the government of winners that de-facto declared a war on the Russian language and everything Russian. Russia called on the US and its allies to stop encouraging nationalist and anti-Russian initiatives by Ukraines new leadership and focus on a dialog and mutually acceptable decisions for the pro-European west and pro-Russian east. Its evident that existing threats to Ukraines sovereignty and territorial integrity originate solely from an internal political conflict. Its settlement requires an absolutely different approach from our partners, the ministry said.

Hey, this is what the American government is doing to America!
>> I raise and call.
On the planet where I learned to play poker, you can’t raise and call at the same time.
It must be different here on your planet. :-)
This man should no where near a nuclear football.
The choice of a Baptist pastor as acting president in Ukraine, which has had an Orthodox majority population for centuries, does not come as a huge surprise to Sergey Rakhuba, head of U.S.-based Russian Ministries. For years, he has been in periodic contact with Turchynov.
“He is well-known in political circles as a principled, honest leader, although he was somehow always in the shadow of Yulia Tymoshenko, the jailed prime minister who was released yesterday.
“He is well-known as a preacher who, despite his political opposition work, preaches on a regular basis at one of the Baptist churches in Kiev, even though security must travel with him. Overall, the evangelical church is excited about Turchynov’s sudden unanimous appointment as acting president. Within the evangelical community, the post-Soviet mindset exists that a true Christian cannot necessarily be a politician. Personally I think it is great that Turchynov is calling for unification and healing of the nation.” http://www.christianitytoday.com/gleanings/2014/february/ukraine-names-baptist-pastor-as-acting-president.html
This is the Germans marching into the Rhineland.
At the time, most people, even those who didn’t care for Hitler felt that the Germans were entitled to it.
From our POV we have a known traitor in the SecState chair bloviating about "serious consequences" that aren't anywhere serious enough to dissuade Russia. We can't even be certain what Kerry's true motivations are. He may drag us into some mess to purposely do further harm to the U.S. There is no reason to think his boss isn't directing him to do just that.
He should have told you not to call his bluff. ;-)
What about the hundreds of thousands of Crimean Tartars that Stain had transported and put in camps? Almost half of them died. I guess it’s ok for us to tell the Ukraine to give their left leg to the tiger in hopes that the tiger will be satiated. That worked so well in 1938.
Same problem the world had in 1938 when they threw part of Czechoslovakia to Hitler
Put it in the very long line of regional atrocities going back to Ivan the Terrible. I’m NOT a Russia supporter, I’m a realpolitik proponent trying to raise the discourse from the kindergarten version being spewed in the MSM where Evil Russia is invading Innocent Ukraine.
Kerry is so gay.
I think you’re right, it’s been a Looong time
since I was on your planet.

You should book a trip! It’s very pretty here, now that Spring has sprung.
By the way — spread the word on your planet: global warming turns out to be a GOOD thing. :-)
Wait, it’s coming back to me, it’s “See you and call!”.
Spring has sprung,
fall has fell
now it’s summer
and hot as...
usual.
Absolutely great synopsis. Well done.
Really? You are comparing Putin to Hitler? Make a O versus Putin on a “who is closer to Hitler” scale and were do you think they would rank?
I am not defending Putin but we have started our march into strongman socialism. If we are not careful a Putin will be the best we can hope for.
The situation is identical, the world will give Crimea to Russia which will come back later and grab more of the Ukraine proper. Imagine the refugees the Ukrainian Russians will be able to slaughter.
Not even close.
The Ukrainian Russians are ethnic Russians but they are not lining up for Russian rule. Putin is trying to grab a rundown broke country that even his best supporters within the country are lukewarm to the idea of being ruled by Russia.
This country adds little if anything to Russia’s wealth and will probably cost it money to manage.
He is taking over this country on his way to what? Europe? Germany? France?
