There is good in opening your doors to the stranger.
But you don’t open your doors to all strangers or soon enough the stranger is you.
There is nothing immoral in englishmen having a country of their own. Englishmen ought to have a country of their own where they can rule themselves and live by their own lights.
And there is nothing wrong in opening your doors to people who admire you and want to be like you, and want to join their destiny to yours.
But if you open your doors to colonists who do not want to be a part of your society, you will lose everything.
I don’t think enough people have thought through the difference between immigration and colonization. Immigration policy should always serve the interests of citizens.
Unless you're Teddy Kennedy -- and know the interests of citizens better than they do.
