A group of Texas tea party activists took Rep. Steve Stockman to task Thursday, issuing an open letter that depicts him as unethical and lazy, and certainly undeserving of promotion to the U.S. Senate. Instead, these activists are throwing their support behind Dwayne Stovall, another of the seven people challenging Sen. John Cornyn in Tuesdays GOP primary.
As your campaign rolled into 2014, Texans have witnessed what might be the laziest statewide campaign to date. The media salted your staff with questions, but these questions were sneered at and rebuffed, wrote the group, led by JoAnn Fleming, a Tyler activists who serves as executive director of Grassroots America and chairs the Texas Legislatures TEA Party Caucus advisory committee. The letter notes that Stockman, R-Clear Lake, has made virtually no campaign appearances.
We disavow your lack of accessibility to the people of Texas during this campaign and these unethical activities. Your actions have disqualified you.
In throwing their support to Stovall, Fleming and her allies are betting on a small business owner who has won good reviews from small tea party gatherings. His political experience is limited to a seat on a small town school board, and a losing bid for seat in the state House.
Today we stand with a fighter to protect us from an overreaching, over-taxing, over-regulating, over-spending federal government. We stand with the man who truly embodies the TEA Party ideal of freedom and liberty for all. Senator Ted Cruz needs a kindred spirit with him in this fight against Washington that man is Dwayne Stovall, Flemings letter says.

No one bothered to check out Stockman before he got his seat in Congress. In this election, the media pumped him up as being Cornyn’s chief opponent, knowing Cornyn could make mince meat out of him in any possible run-off.
The TEA Party of Texas should learn a lesson from this and be prepared with one great candidate to successfully challenge the GOPe’s incumbent. We were just incredibly fortunate to have Sen. Cruz to back last time, but that is extremely rare.
At the end of the day all that really matters is Cornyn not making it over 50 percent on Tuesday.
If he does, I think everyone will have to consider why and plan to support a third party conservative candidate in the fall.
NO MORE VOTES FOR RINO’S UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.....
Stockman is a bit daft. I am in his district.
What? How did so many people get registered to run against Cornyn? And why did the Tea Party wait until just a few days before the primary before endorsing their candidate? This is looking pretty bleak.
Bingo.
There is no “the tea party” so “it “ doesn’t endorse candidates.
it takes a while for the dead to relay a message. after all, the media has said the TP has been dead for years ;)
He’s my Congressman also. Has been both times he “served”.
Is there a third-party conservative on the fall ballot? He has to have filed already to run. There could be a write-in though, but most voters don’t know how to write in anyone.

To answer your first question: All you have to do is get enough signatures on an Election Petition OR pay a certain fee amount to get into a race in Texas and you’re on the ballot. There’s like 14 running for Stockman’s Congressional Seat in this Primary.
To answer your second question: IDK, other than the fact that more than one of the seven challengers are Tea Partiers and the Tea Party was just hoping to force Cornhole into a run-off and then unite behind one candidate for the Run-off Election. And, there will be a Run-off Election. So, IT IS NOT LOOKING BLEAK!!!
The likely Democrat choice, endorsed by Wendy Davis, is liberal activist David Alameel, who never met an abotion he too didn’t endorse.
A poll released this weeks says TX Republican primary voters are not that conservative and that Cornball will win the primary with some 64 percent of the ballots.
Cornyn will wind up in a run-off.

I’ve already early voted for Stockman. We shall see how it pans out, but I don’t think Cornball can be stopped.
Yeah, Stockman has just been rather strange. No real campaign, no ads, no media presence. It’s more like a stunt or fund raising campaign than anything else with him.
I cautioned people on the Cruz talk with him. I want Cornyn out but, jeez. Stovall seems to be the flavor of the week now.
When there is no new Ted Cruz let’s not try to make one up, please.
Looking at the voting records of STEVE STOCKMAN and John Wayne McCornyn, STOCKMAN votes the way we want him to and that’s a FACT. I’ll take “Honest but Quirky” over Back Stabbing RINO any day.
I haven’t voted as yet because I have been waiting until Tuesday to arrive.
