Hey Publius...I MET some of the original Funk Brothers (at a Herman Cain Rally) and we spent quite a bit of time together reminiscing about James Jameson, the MAGNIFICENT Bass Player who revolutionized the Bass in modern music.
Nearly every hit song (Especially Motown & Soul) can be recognized by it’s bass line.
When Disco took over the Music industry in the late seventies, James had a hard time adapting, and died tragically young, in a very bad state.
James is my Bass hero.
Lots of vintage Motown next week, including the failure that caused Berry Gordy to replace Smokey Robinson as producer of the Temptations with Norman Whitfield. Also the attempt to whiten the sound of the Isley Brothers.
