ROCKUMENTARY: MARCH 1, 1965
#9 Peter & Gordon: I Go to PiecesPeter Asher has had a long career producing Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Neil Diamond and others. But he started as a duet with Gordon Waller singing tunes that Lennon and McCartney had given away.
This is a Del Shannon tune. The boys were in Australia on a tour with Del, when one night backstage Del sang this number. The commercial possibilities occurred to the guys, and they sat down and recorded it immediately. It became one of their greatest hits.

I remember Peter & Gordon doing “World Without love”!

I Go to Pieces--Del Shannon (
sine datum)
Judging from the arrangement and the sound, this was probably recorded in 1963, but it was not released until many years later. Had it been released right after it was recorded, it probably would have been a hit.

Good one, Maestro! I remember that week well - still living in Taipei at the time. I liked Peter and Gordon - you don't hear them that much anymore. I did not know this was a Del Shannon tune.

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)
