U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, facing a field of GOP primary candidates running at him mainly from the right, set the bar low for next Tuesdays election, telling Texas reporters that his main goal is to avoid a runoff.
My goal is to win the election without a runoff, and I think well achieve that goal, he said in a phone conference Wednesday. He added: I realize runoffs are a unique animal unto themselves, and my goal is to win without a runoff, and of course Ill enjoy every vote I get above that.
Cornyn reminded the press corps that hes had some experience with runoffs.

But, the good thing about the Texas Primary system is, if you vote in one Party’s Primary, you CANNOT vote in the other Party’s Primary Run-Off Election, if there is a run-off. You are locked in to the Party for whose Primary you voted. So, any Dems who vote in the Dem Primary (because a lot of “local” races are still decided in the Dem Primary in Texas), cannot come back and vote in the GOP Run-Off later. Also, most Texas Democrats hate the GOP so badly, they would never want public voting records showing that they voted in a Republican Primary.
Great news...my emails are working ;-)

Yes they are Jane. I sent e-mails to everyone in my e-mail contact list that lives in Texas. The response was overwhelming. I stirred up some folks to vote who were not planning on voting and I stole a lot of votes away from Cornyn. Keep working it until Tuesday; e-mail, Facebook, Twitter..... Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Mapps comments really shook up the polling. Now it wont affect all the early voters, but this could be fun.

Guess I missed that. Got a link?
Wow! Cornyn 37%, Stockman 33% and Mapp 17%. I’m a Stovall guy, but I could certainly live with Mapp. Dear God, if Stockman is in the run-off, I’ll have to vote for the nut.
I cant remember the Hispanic female candidate, who had surprisingly high numbers in one poll.

Linda Vega. She does have a large following in the Hispanic communities of her hometown of Houston and in Dallas/Ft. Worth, San Antonio and Austin. She could surprise us on Election night. I supported her originally, but, I feel that we must unite behind the candidate with the best chance of keeping Stockman out of 2nd place, so, I’m going with Stovall.
Since I asked you earlier what Mapp’s comment was, I found out by reading more of this thread. I’m hoping that Mapp is taking more votes from Stockman than he is Stovall. Has the national news gotten hold of Mapp’s comments?
Definitely. Texas is 48th in the nation for voter turnout. That is a plus for our team. The lower the turnout, the less chance Cornhole has to avoid a run-off. Check this out:

If the man had any honor he would resign if he couldnt get more than 50% of the vote!

And he will do that. The day after Madonna and Cher join a Convent and become nuns.
And the Stockman robocalls against Cornyn seem to be working

You mean Stockman has gotten off of his ass and is doing something? I haven’t received one of the calls. I hope he was sober when he taped it.
Stovall is my guy, but I haven’t seen one Stovall sign here in Southeast Texas. BUT...... I haven’t seen any Cornyn or Stockman signs either.
This poll... consider it. Nobody knows who Stockman is (because he isnt campaigning), but hes the top challenger?
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Only because when he entered the race initially, the national media jumped all over it because they thought he would be a credible challenger to Cornhole. So, people who want to vote against Cornyn are going with “name recognition”. No other candidate has gotten the press that Stockman has gotten.
Stockman may have a few skeletons, but he.....has called for Obamas impeachment.

Big whoop! That’s all he did was run his mouth. Has he followed through with any action? As we say down here in Texas: “He’s all hat and no cattle”. But, I’ll vote for the creep if he’s the one in the run-off with Cornhole. GO STOVALL!!
Where did you get that? Is that a Stockman Campaign Poster? Did he finally spend some of the $Half-Million that has been donated to his campaign? I think the dude got in this race just for campaign donations to pay off the debt from his Congressional Race and pocket the rest.
Saturday AM Update. Bad news.
Cornyn 54%
Stockman 21%
Stovall 9%
Mapp 6%
Vega 3%
Cope 3%
Reasor 3%
Cleaver 1%
I got it as an email from FreedomWorks. They’re not endorsing, so they say, just showing the difference.
I did say I vote for Stovall. He is clearly the best choice.
So here’s the final private poll results. Hopefully, it’s going to be wrong tomorrow. Again, this is registered voter, not adjusted for projected turnout.
Cornyn 56%
Stockman 18%
Vega 9%
Stovall 7%
Mapp 4%
Reasor 3%
Vega 9%
Cope 2%
Cleaver 1%
Very interesting. I hope that increased turnout can push Cornyn the 6+ points down to force a runoff. We’ll see tomorrow!
