16.25 Our correspondent in Simferopol, Roland Oliphant, says Russian troops have moved into Crimea in what Moscow is calling a mission to “protect Black Sea Fleet’s positions”

15.50 BREAKING: The Russian foreign ministry has admitted that armoured units from the Black Sea Fleet base near Sevastopol had entered Crimea in order to protect fleet positions.

The Ukrainian side was also passed a note regarding the movement of armoured vehicles of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea, which is happening in full accordance with the foundation Russian-Ukrainian agreements on the Black Sea Fleet,” the ministry said in a statement posted on its website on Friday afternoon.

In the same note the Russian foreign ministry said it had declined a Ukrainian request for “bilateral consultations” on events in Crimea because they are “the result of recent internal political processes in Ukraine.”

In this day and age we have the ability to turn a half-dozen dunk protesters into a full-blown "revolution" using media tricks, a few public comments from high officials and money.

The Egyptian "Arab Spring" might have fizzled out on its own had we (the West) not given such support to the radicals. Same thing in Libya. By the same token, the near-revolution in Iran a few years ago had the same potential, but we kept quiet and thus helped the regime.

In the Ukraine, we're talking it up, offering financial incentives, and the MSM is playing its part. We're definitely involved.

Its questionable how treaties hold up in court when a government is overthrown. Just look at what happened with the regime rollercoaster in Egypt.

Bill Clinton? Forget it.

When we are ‘America’ again we will rebuild our military. I don’t want this POSOTUS handling more of our military than he has to.
At this time former KGB operative vlad Putin makes a better capitalist leader and Christian than zer0.

Conciliatory words hide Putin’s anger over Ukraine

At almost midnight and with little fanfare, the Kremlin put out a statement outlining President Vladimir Putin’s orders on Ukraine - and they were as conciliatory as earlier Russian announcements had been confrontational.

Ordering his government to work with Ukrainian and foreign partners to find a financial package to shore up Ukraine’s collapsing finances, Putin struck a measured note compared to the military muscle-flexing of other officials, who had put thousands of Russian troops on high alert.

Russian intervention in Ukraine would be grave mistake: White House by Amy Tennery (Reuters) 1142 AM Thanks to Daniel Greenfield for the remarks below to explain where we are with Obozo as POTUS.

The Post-American order stands for nothing except its own dismantling. That is why Obama sets red lines that he won’t enforce and issues threats that he doesn’t mean.

The only thing less appealing than selfishness is the complete absence of self. The only thing less appealing than empire is an anti-imperialism that so thoroughly negates its own power that it has no influence and no reason to exist.

Post-American America exists to destroy itself. Until that changes, it has nothing to offer the world except membership in a suicide pact.

Let's review what happened, shall we? The (former) Ukrainian president backed-out of a deal with the EU in favor of a deal with Russia, and people took to the streets (and not just a half-dozen).

So, am I to blame the media?

Sam took a deep breath. “An Oliphaunt it was!”

Oliphaunt:
Grey as a mouse
Big as a house
Nose like a snake
I make the earth shake
As I tramp through the grass
Trees crack as I pass
With horns in my mouth
I walk in the South
Flapping big ears
Beyond count of years
I stump round and round
Never lie on the ground
Not even to die
Oliphaunt am I
Biggest of all
Huge, old, and tall
If ever you’d met me
You wouldn’t forget me
If you never do
You won’t think I’m true
But old Oliphaunt am I
And I never lie

“Take Venezuela, for example, who is pulling the strings there?”

Why it’s the “fascists, criminals and foreign provocateurs” that are at the root of the people protesting against government corruption, incompetence and repression. Same as in Syria too.

Seeing a pattern here?

Anyone opposing Putin’s people are “fascists, criminals and foreign agitators”. Just check what the trolls on these threads are posting, straight from their scripts.
