Texas requires a huge amount of money to run a media campaign statewide. IMO,
most of the candidates don't have that money and thus have to rely on personal
appearances, word of mouth, etc. Of all the candidates opposing Cornyn,
Stockman is the most recognizable because of his election to Congress twice.
However I doubt he has much recognition outside of Southeast TX.
Polls have been almost non existent for this race. I'm sure some may have
been conducted by candidates but not released to the public. Here is
one that was done Feb. 7 - 14 and is the latest I'm aware of.

I wish the tea party organizations would run a “pre-primary” primary, and settle on one tea party endorsed candidate and try to get all the money shuttled to that candidate, so one would have a hope of winning over an entrenched, non conservative, non-tea party opponent.
With 5 or 6 relative unknowns (who all might be very good), the smaller amount of money available to fight the GOP establishment then gets split even further - not a good situation.
It also bothers me that Duane Stovall and Steve Stockman, probably the most favored candidates on FR, and the most constitutional conservative choices, didn’t bother to answer a lot of questionarres from conservative organizations. I don’t understand why, unless someone on their campaign team was trying to undermine them. Those voter guides and questionarres are where a lot of us get our info on people that are in other election districts - like Stockman or Stovall.
Private poll on registered voters (not likely voters) from last Friday/Saturday:
Cornyn 64%
Stockman 23%
Stovall 6%
Cope 3%
Vega 3%
Other 1%
I’ll see updated private poll numbers tomorrow for polling conducted today and tomorrow.
