Lots of unregistered people run,and have done so for many years. There will be some very unhappy people.
The Marathon is a big yawn anyway, unless you have someone running.

Maybe I can’t blame them for this but the bombers were spectators, and spectators are always going to be harder to police than participants so it’s hard to see this as anything other than symbolism over substance.

And then there is Rosie Ruiz.

US asset that went rogue —acted nutzo, got in touch with the real crazies, later identified with them and flipped to the dark side.
FBI killed that Florida guy in the field, “he lunged at us”. They were probably worried the guy knew his buddy had been a US asset, wanted to avoid scandal blow-back.

Someone should mention to them it wasn’t a bag that exploded.
Not only are they locking the barn door after the horses have left — they are locking ALL the doors on every empty barn except the one with the horses.

If you go back and look at some of those old photos you will see cops standing, dumb-founded, at the chaos around them. You will also notice military members in fatigues tossing barricades aside, jumping barricades, tending to the wounded.
What you may not know is that those military members had just crossed the finish line - they weren't resting - they had just crossed it. In full packs iirc. They had started the “race” at dawn, hours before the official start of the race, and had just finished their long (6-7 hours??) march.
And THEY were the ones that sprang to action. They do the marathon in support and memory of injured and dead friends. A guy from the same outfit was in Afghanistan and did his hike going around and around the compound for 24 miles or whatever it is.
Sorry for the long info - but what a way to show these guys the respect and honor that they deserve.

But given the oddities around the circumstances, especially the lead-up, it wouldn't surprise me.

Sheesh, that was easy. Why don’t they just pass a law to ban terrorists/criminals/totalitarians. Think of all of the Alphabet Agency $ we could save.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

I ran it unofficially years ago and know many others who put time, blood, sweat, and tears into it AND pay the taxes that pave the roads they run on! The ‘bandits’ are by far the most exciting part of the race. No one will say it but the next marathon will have an entirely different feel because they capitulated to the terrorists.

To me, it is something you qualify and pay for, maybe it's acceptable at Boston, but I wouldn't feel right doing it.
