Whenever people complain about toll roads, I point out that you're paying to not have a lot of other people on the road. If you're traveling through a metropolitan area (e.g. Toronto), and there's a toll road alternative to the "freeway", it's generally worth paying the toll. When you consider the higher wear and tear, and lower gas mileage on the "free" highway, you save money by paying the toll. As a bonus, your trip takes less time, and is far less dangerous.

yes, you make up the money you pay for the toll in time you save. time is money. and as you say you save on wear and tear on the car caused by the stop and go traffic on the public socialist roads.

socialism always equals long lines as in lines of traffic or lines in free supermarkets, or gov healthcare waiting lists.

Some U.S. cities like Denver and Austin have toll/bypass roads that while longer than the four lane that goes through or close to the major metro center, are pleasures to drive thanks to the great condition of the roads, the lesser traffic, and the higher average speeds. My wife and I love these bypass roads. You don’t even have to stop at a toll gate for the one by Denver. A camera takes a picture of your license plate, and you get the bill from the state of Colorado about one month later. Worth the sixteen dollars or whatever it was we paid.
