Funneling millions of dollars worth of military equipment to police and sheriffs has allowed civilian oversight of these agencies to lapse. We may very well need that equipment in the years ahead. It will be good to have it maintained, fueled, and stored close at hand.

I don't know. Our city of 300,000 got an APC and people just look at it as a waste of money. A pick up truck could easily take it out. It sits up on a slab behind the police station and simply looks stupid and out of place.
