Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer will veto a controversial bill that would allow business owners to refuse service to gays and lesbians on the grounds of their religious conviction, NBC News is reporting via Twitter.
Brewer has been under intense pressure from business groups and political leaders to diffuse the situation and veto the legislation which they fear will draw unnecessary attention to Arizona a year before it hosts the next Super Bowl and following economic losses on controversial immigration stances.

Evidently, the deep sea fishing industry has threatened to move out of Arizona.

brewer thinks, ‘you righties made me sign immigration, 2nd amendement, late term abortion. now its my turn to be my moderate self.’
I am pondering which conservatives, if in the same position as Jan Brewer, would sign this into law. Frankly, I see many of them caving.
Who would stand up to the homosexual mafia? I think Michelle Bachmann would. Would Ted Cruz? Rand Paul? Rubio? Would Alan West? Ben Carson? Would Sarah Palin? I really would like to know who would have that kind of strength.
The gays have America by the balls.
Funny you never you use that on men.
“I think Michelle Bachmann would. Would Ted Cruz? Rand Paul? Rubio? Would Alan West? Ben Carson? Would Sarah Palin? I really would like to know who would have that kind of strength”
All the above but Rand Paul. He is too “libertarian” like his old man, who voted to lift DADT. He’s wishy washy on marriage and never puts faith into the conversation when asked. He will say it should be left up to the states to define, but will not mention God’s plan for man and woman.
You are correct.
“...52 electoral votes...”
All because of LBJ’s daisy-picking campaign ad. People were much more easily fooled in those days........oh, wait...
I didn’t say sodomites were cool.
I just have some questions about attitudes toward gays.
“...Goldwater would have failed it.”
Not so sure. Some of these “social” issues today were not even been on the radar in 1964.
That’s a good question. Are there any states that have already passed similar laws? If not I reckon we will see if any really conservative state gets a law like this passed. Not that it will probably last two seconds with our black robed masters.
Freegards
“no shoes, no shirt, no service” is banned?
The ongoing arguments about the shirt deficient and shoe deprived aren’t being framed as being about ‘civil rights.’ So they are out of luck, and ‘no shirt, no shoes, no dice’ is therefore the law of the land.
Freegards
True liberty minded Republicans and Libertarians believe in freedom of association and letting the free market work.
lol
heh
At the same time, this particular bill is too broad and too vague.
"worthless republicans"? Good job throwing the blame on the peons. Where is the Pope on this? Where is the President of the Southern Baptist Convention on this?
*crickets*
No surprise.
1. A whole bunch of prominent Republicans including Gingrich, Romney, McCain, and the other Arizona Senator came out against it. Several former supporters of the bill backtracked and on paper it would not pass today. Also almost nobody came out in favor of the bill. Palin? Cruz (great on the issue but never came out to support this particular bill as far as I know)?
2. Add to that the massive onslaught from the media.
3. Massive pressure from dozens of major corporations that signed a huge petition against this, the chamber of commerce oppose, and even the NFL threatened to move Super Bowl! The last is a painful memory, Arizona had a Super Bowl moved from the state 20 years ago over its resistance to MLK holiday.
Who is to blame? The voters, for voting in RINO’s (McCain) and supporting immoral corporations.
