A senior at Northeast High School in Clarksville, Tenn. has been suspended for 10 days and faces a multitude of additional punishments including criminal charges because school officials found a knife belonging to his father inside his fathers car.
The student is David Duren-Sanner, reports local CBS affiliate WTVF.
The students father is a commercial fisherman who works on the West Coast. The father left wait for it a fishing knife in the car.
Duren-Sanner has sworn he knew nothing about it.

I was cutting the magnet out of my note book in 7th grade home room and it slipped. It was only 3-stitch worthy but the one-armed kid next to me threw up. No one even said not to bring it to class again.
Good point.
Was the kid old enough to give consent?
Horrible reaction by jack-booted idiots. Poor kid, what a nasty thing to do to a senior. His dad’s car?! They must have known his dad was a fisherman and assumed a knife was in the car so they could make some sort of example out of the family/kid.
This nonsense, and the kidnapping of one’s children by medical “experts” needs to stop.
This is one Nation under idiots.
Kid unknowingly brought a 3' inch blade knife to school in his fathers car...
He is a ROTC student, 3.0 avg senior...
Whatever "point" they are making, I'm sure as the sun comes up tomorrow, it will have the opposite effect...
My only questions is why have parents of school children not taken the schools back and away from the Government?
the kid consented to the search.
NEVER CONSENT TO A SEARCH
As a former Leo/Corrections Officer my family knows the rules.
NEVER allow a Government agent into the home PERIOD! Unless the produce a valid warrant. That is ANY Government agent.
Never consent to any type of search, person, car, home, etc.
If they say well we can get a warrant then allow them to go get a warrant.
Never answer any questions from a Government agent beyond polite conversation unless under arrest and then only with a lawyer present.
Hell, once I drove one of my dad's work trucks there because my 1964 Corvair had a flat. It had a case of dynamite and blasting caps in the bed.
The FFA boys had bottled oxygen, acetylene, propane, big ol' veterinary hypodermics, big ol' bottles of antibiotics, electric fence chargers and who knows what else.
That was normal in the early 1970's and nobody thought anything of it.
We always carried the dynamite in the cab. The caps rode in the back with the fertilizer.
Never.
NEVER “consent” to a search.
Period.
It’s about time we did zero tolerance for Illegal Aliens!
these stories make no sense to me. How is a fishing knife in a car a crime?
This is crazy stupid.
Time to bring back guns and knives in school parking lots, right?

This kind of stuff seems to get worse the further east you go. Kind of surprised at Tennessee, though.
Out here, where the dad does his fishing, I’ve never heard of high school cars being searched unless there was an active police investigation with warrant.
Violating 4th Amendment Rights ... well, not exactly. It is probably violating 4a rights that have been signed away by the student and his parents in order to attend school. Each year, families of government schools are forced to sign documents that agree to school district policies. While, I feel somewhat sorry for this kid, it really is family's problem and the community's problem.
My kids did a stint in government schools before we pulled them out. We had to sign all kinds of forms at the beginning of the school year. This past year, even though my kids were no longer in gov. school, I went to a school board meeting to speak my mind about a new policy going into effect. It was a simple policy. If you park your car on school grounds it is subject to search at any time. When I calmly explained to the school board and an audience of teachers and parents that the policy was teaching children it was acceptable to give up constitutional rights, I was treated like a nut case. Student safety was much more important to them ... which is a load of bull shit.
I should add that I live in a conservative area. The real problem is that too many men are limp-wristed metrosexual wusses, married to women that are afraid of everything and thusly turn to government to solve all problems. If men were men and protected their women, maybe women would be less afraid.
Sue the people who brought the charges against him - money and an apology. Oh wait, the clue is there - guilty because we say so!
