Who says I want to restrict 2nd amendment rights in any way? If you can’t trust someone to have a gun, don’t let them out of prison. And don’t let them vote in prison, either. Let those who are out of prison buy guns without forcing everyone to prove their non-criminal. And change sentences so that people you don’t want buying guns, don’t get out of jail.

Then we are in complete agreement and I offer my sincere apology for misunderstanding you.

As far as felons voting are concerned, I don't think too many are sitting in prison or jail dreaming of the day they can get out and vote. In my case, I didn't have any interest in voting or politics till my misspent youth was well behind me.

However, I will always oppose letting people vote while in jail, or prison, on parole etc. Inmates would vote just to have a change of pace and democrats will pander to that vote at every opportunity.

I tend to agree that any man too dangerous to own a gun is a man too dangerous to let out of prison. Background checks are little more than a means of collecting the names of the law abiding. Criminals aren't going to ask for permission to own a gun.

BTW my horrifying "felony" was in failing to appear for court on a drunk driving charge many years ago. I was a drunk, what the hell did they expect.

Apology accepted. I have always thought in the past that we were very much on the same side of the gun issue.
