Five years after his "rant heard around the world" spawned what is now known as the Tea Party movement, CNBC's Rick Santelli appeared on Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125 and said the energy from 2009 has created a powerful political movement that has already achieved many tangible results while changing the political landscape.
Speaking to host and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon, Santelli said the Tea Party movement is a big-tent movement that attracts Americans from all walks of life. He said what is appealing about the movement to him is its emphasis on fiscal responsibility. The size, scope, and reach of government is becoming a bigger political issue and platform, and that, he said, is where the Tea Party will have its most lasting impact.
Unlike the Occupy Movement that fizzled, Santelli argued that the Tea Party has "morphed." Even though the movement does not have a convention to elect an official leader or spokesperson, the "energy from '09 has been put to work in a way that has been tangible."
Calling his impassioned rant the "neatest five minutes" of his career, Santelli said the speech's legacy was "a bit surprising to me." He said the country was going through many massive "emotional upheavals" at the time, starting with the financial crisis that he believes started when the government tried to interject itself into the housing market.
He said he was merely venting about issues "that were burning through the country." He was surprised that the Tea Party movement, composed of those who had been especially frustrated with George W. Bush's big-government programs and inspired by Sarah Palin in 2008, formed at the grassroots level and then exploded....

I like that too. Reward the loyalist.
I’ve been saying that for years.

Heres how I think primaries should be organized:
My suggestion is basically to hold the first primary in the state that has the highest percentage of GOP votes in the last election, the 2nd primary in the 2nd highest, and so on. 2 primaries a week for 25 weeks, with the last primaries being the suckup-to-the-democrats. And the democrats could easily have their primary schedule the same way, if they wanted.
This way, if a state is 60% republican, there is still incentive for them to get out the vote for 61% republican so they can bump up their state in the primary schedule.
Also: Rotate all the states (even the big ones) through an early schedule so that everyone gets access at some point to the front line.
OR
Let each state bid when they want their primary to take place. The earlier the primary, the fewer the delegates they control according to some logarithmic or steep curve formula.

Second thing is the order of the primaries should be determined by the percentage of republicans in the last vote. The higher the %pubbie, the sooner the state appears on the primary schedule, with a mix of big & little states and our staunchest republican states get to go FIRST. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1965735/posts?page=862#862

It would be a great way to stick it to the Uniparty.
Sowell is not immune from watching which side his bread is buttered on. It tells me that he is more in tuned to the GOPe as a foundation of his followership than the Tea Party.
I think it would be awesome. I can already see RINO’s throwing fits over it.
I know to opposite extremes, but...
It isn't really the way they look, although they seem cut from the same cloth.
Many Paul supporters did as much damage to his cause as some of the kooky things he would say.
Yes.
Even Fox News and Hannity were attacking Paul and his supporters.
Actually it was the Paulestinians who attacked Hannity.
Paul's 2008 presidential run was the best thing that has ever happened to this country since Reagan's 1980 run.
Those kooks you posted represented less than one-tenth of one percent of his actual support.
That was one amazing rant... Thank you Rick Santelli... for the rant heard round the world.
Please do not ever compare President Reagan (whom I worked for) and Congressman Paul again in my hearing. Thank you.
We are the Tea Party! Call us what you will! Insult us with your crude sexual descriptions. What is it you are afraid of?
We want the government we deserve from the Constitution. Nothing more, nothing less.
We don’t care about people’s sex lives or the color of their skin. We want freedom and opportunity for all Americans. We want government out of the way. We don’t want goodies with huge strings attached.
Never been further east than Indiana? You are blessed. (Mind you; the SOUTHeast is wonderful...best people on the planet.)
I thought New Hampshire used to be a "Red" State, i.e. more libertarian.
I wish we could step up and have a real party. I agree. They will slam us. We have one magic word we can use. That word is
SO?
We should explain Alinsky to the general public, and how the name calling we get is just a trick to keep us from having any influence. Calling us racist homophobes is one trick, to try and make us defend whether we quit beating our wives. And it’s a double trick because all the rest of the public falls for it like fools and avoids us! All a trick.
Let’s stand up to this political bullying like the brave passengers on flight 93. Let’s roll.
Like.
Everytime I see a Ron Paul bumper sticker I see 9/11 was an Inside Job, F Bush, Coexist and Obama bumper stickers all on the car...
I see it more often since I live in the hippie part of town.
I agree. We don’t need to be told to sit down and shut up by RINO’s, we don’t work for them! They want our votes, then they should try to earn them. Their arrogance and their assumption that they will get our votes anyway (they think we owe them our votes) has corrupted this party.
Santelli is one of the few remaining righties at CNBC along with Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, Joe Kernan and Larry Kudlow. All the rest have jumped to FoxBiz including Neil Cavuto, Maria Bartiromo, Eric Bolling, Liz Claman, Melissa Francis, Charlie Gasparino and Stuart Varnie.
I had a Gadsden Flag flying in front of my house before Santelli’s rant. I put it up November 8th 2008.
