Poll: Greg Abbott widening lead in Texas

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott leads Democrat Wendy Davis by 11 points, according to a new poll Monday.

Forty-seven percent of voters said they back Abbott, while 36 percent would vote for Davis, a University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll found. Seventeen percent of registered voters said they had no opinion.

The new poll represents a widening gap between Abbott and Davis. In October, the survey found Abbott leading Davis by just 6 percent.

Meanwhile, the poll also found that Rep. Steve Stockman poses a minor threat to Sen. John Cornyn in the Senate race. Sixty-two percent of likely Republican voters would support Cornyn, while just 16 percent would back Stockman, according to the survey.

In the Democratic Senate primary, Kesha Rogers leads with 35 percent of likely Democratic voters. Rogers has called for the impeachment of President Barack Obama and repeal of the Affordable Care Act, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The poll surveyed 1,200 registered voters online between Feb. 7 and Feb. 17 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.83 percentage points. The questions of likely Republican primary voters have a margin of error of plus or minus 4.56 percentage points, and the questions of likely Democratic primary voters have a margin of error of plus or minus 6.04 percentage points.

I early voted today for Abbott. Hope this trend keeps up, but there will be no real spending done on Wendy's campaign until after the vote on March 4th.

As an FYI, not sure if this is state wide or not, but some YES, No type questions are also on the ticket too. Should Obamacare be repealed, conceal and carry, religious freedom and a couple of others. If you didn't see those, let me know, I'm just curious.

Whose soaring on the Tweets of her Lefties, lying to everybody she meets, whose faking out the minds of the dummies, everyone knows its Wendy.
And Wendy tells stormy lies, flashing her mascara eyes, and likes to see babies die, for womens rights, its her delights.

I don't know which is worse - those who'd vote for the Liar, or those who have no opinion :(

I guess the little media tantrum about Ted Nugent didn’t have the desired effect.

This doesn’t surprise me in the least. Davis was a lightweight who got national media attention by hyping her position on abortion, which is completely out of touch with the position most Texans take. Once the media hype died down, she stuck her foot in her mouth again and again and fizzled out. If an extreme Lib lightweight like Davis has a real chance in Texas, conservatives are in trouble.

Abbott will win as governor. Cornyn will retain his seat in the Senate.
Cornyn is somewhat “rinoish”, but the business community/big donors like him and that gives him a huge fund-raising edge. Also, he is pretending to be conservative again, so that will likely assuage most of the more casual republican voters down here. I know that isn’t what most freepers want to hear about Cornyn, but it seems likely.

Cornyn is polling a little over 60%. Still 40% say they’re voting against that POS RINO so he and Karl Rove can still KMA.

Dwayne Stovall has been endorsed by the following Tea Party / Conservative Groups in Texas:

Grassroots America - We the People
South Texas Tea Party Network
Nacogdoches Tea Party
Stand Across America
Young Republicans of Houston
Republican Liberty Caucus of CD 36
Katy LiberTea
Southern Conservative
Kaufman Tea Party
Pearland Tea Party
Facebook Tea Party
TeaParty911
Montague County Tea Party
Sam Houston Tea Party
Llano Tea Party
Cass County Tea Party
Wichita Falls Tea Party
Lake Jackson Tea Party (straw poll win)
Ellis County (straw poll win)
Tri-County Tea Party
Clearlake Tea Party
Overpasses for Obama’s Impeachment
Alvin Tea Party
Firefighters for Liberty

I cannot figure out why the national TEA/Conservative groups haven’t endorsed him. They seem to be staying away from the TX Senator race with a 10’ pole.

36% support Wendy?? Amazing how stupid so many voters are. The left is now reduced to attacking Abbott for being disabled and for having Ted Nugent endorse him, yet 36% of Texas voters remain morons?

His numbers in the primary are quite different. He may well have to go to a run-off. I expect that he will.

What with her being so honest & all.

The people voting for her have no idea what the word "honest" means, and wouldn't recognize an honest person if said person wore a sandwich board.

To the extent that the poll portends the outcome of this election, I am encouraged. But it is most disconcerting that a candidate so blatantly unqualified as Davis could pull the support of 36% of the electorate.

I would bet you’d get the same number of votes if the democrats nominated a dead dog.

I saw private poll numbers this weekend and they line up with this poll on Cornyn. And I saw George P polling at 67%. Sucks.

I knew it. I keep getting suggested posts on FB about her. I left a post saying she must be desperate to spend so much time sending those to conservatives and out of staters. Others are fed up with her sending those too. Very few supported her. Bless her little heart.
