Since our military is being secretly dismantled, our spending priorities cannot be compared to a nation that values self defense.
I thought diversity was a good thing.
Russia is in a multi-year process of upgrading and re-equipping its armed forces. The crisis in Ukraine shows how urgent the program is and Russia cannot afford to be caught unprepared like it was in 1941.
Twenty million lives lost is all the more reason to press ahead. Its not possible to foresee where future threats may emerge but no country can afford to let down its guard.
This is the critical thing no matter how much money it costs. And the re-armament program will continue well into the future.
The American air arm wants as many as 1,763 copies of the F-35A to replace most of its existing fighters and, in theory, maximize efficiency.
Just wondering. Do the ones manufacturing/assembling these planes make a decent/good living?
Weakness is a recipe for war.
the tax rate in Russia is a flat 13% with no deductions.
Pingsky.
Our government is buying nothing but votes.
The Russians understand one thing very well: once you give your highly skilled people no choice but to move on to other work outside the defense industry, it gets REALLY hard to bring back that skill set when you need it later.
Not to mention the decision behind buying the F-35 is a political of power and money and not one of national defense.
If you are going to buy a plane for that much money, it shouldn’t be all ugly and out of proportion.
Maybe, but it does fly good, real good.
America needs to stop sending jobs to China.
Bring back American jobs. Now.
Simple.
Vis pacem, para bellum.
Keeping ones armed forces up to date is a lot easier when you’re solvent...
...And the reason for canceling the F-22 is that they’d buy the full complement of F-35s...
“Anyone who believes this is smoking something. Ill bet we ultimately buy less than 1000 F-35s. Maybe a lot less.”
I would agree. And I would add that drone technology will have to be pushed forward to fill the gap. What’s the alternative? You need a less-capable, cheap airframe that you can afford to lose a lot of.
