AUSTIN, TX -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Thursday condemned inflammatory remarks by Ted Nugent that resurfaced when the outspoken rocker this week joined Republican Greg Abbott's gubernatorial campaign.
Nugent was quoted in an interview with Guns.com last month as calling President Barack Obama a "subhuman mongrel." He appeared with Abbott during two campaign stops Tuesday, a decision that Democratic opponent Wendy Davis called "repulsive."
Perry said on CNN's "Situation Room" that Nugent making outrageous comments shouldn't surprise anyone. But he condemned his language about Obama.
"I got a problem calling the president a mongrel. I do have a problem with that," said Perry, who is not running for re-election. "That is an inappropriate thing to say."

Gov. Perry has a problem with the truth?
Perry is correct. It’s a disgrace to mongrels everywhere to be associated with Obama.
Running away from Ted is the wrong thing for Republicans to do.
Yeah, that’ll get Perry a few temporary brownie points. Republicans eating conservatives for short political gains that quickly evaporate.
I call him a smidgeon. You got a problem with that?
Perry condemned the mongrel part but left the sub-human comment alone.
I would agree. Obama is a pure bred sub-human.
“Mixed Breed” is politically correct, as that’s what the lib animal-lovers say. Or the term used by that great representative of black culture in the 70s, George Jefferson: “zebra-striped”!
I strongly agree.
I thought Perry was a (lot) smarter than this.
sub human - cosi e cosi
You will note of course that he did not disagree with the rest of Ted’ statements,
Ted Nugent: Sorry about the subhuman mongrel verbiage

I will try to elevate my vernacular to the level of those great men that Im learning from in the world of politics
In an interview with conservative radio talk show host and CNN commentator Ben Ferguson, Nugent first apologized not necessarily to the President, but on behalf of much better men than myself, referring to Texas politicians such as Governor Rick Perry and Attorney General Greg Abbott.
Nugent went on to say, I apologize for using the street fighter terminology of subhuman mongrel instead of just using more understandable language. He then used phrases like violator of his oath to the Constitution; the liar that he is and elaborated by criticizing Obamas handling of certain issues, such as the presidents broken promise on Obamacare. I will try to elevate my vernacular to the level of those great men that Im learning from in the world of politics, Nugent said.
When prompted by Ferguson to clarify, Are you apologizing to the president of the United States of America Barack Obama for calling him a subhuman mongrel? Nugent replied, yes
I love Ted Nugent!
Still waiting for Obama to apologize to us Tea Party members for calling us “Teabaggers” but hey, when a lib says something disgusting about a Conservative its A OK
Rick Perry took time away from forcing STD vaccinations on little girls, NAFTA superhighways, and free college for Illegal Aliens...to whine about Nugent
And folks thing Perry is conservative
What’s wrong with the classic “POS”? It gives Obama unworthy attention making up new names.
Don’t worry. His fan club will arrive soon to tell us what a great president Perry would have made.
Of course, as is often the case where a backbone is involved, the good Gov ends up defending the problem. Guess that back surgery was to remove his spine afterall.
“I got a problem calling the president a mongrel.”
You are what you eat.
