Who eventually pays for most everything?
Costs must go up. Either the restaurant can raise prices or make a statement with their health fee. I’m glad that this brings attention to the issue.
If I had gone into that restaurant to eat I would have deducted the 3% from the tip and told them so. But, like many others who I suspect will feel the same way, I’d stop going there simply because prices are too high.
he could have hidden it in raised item prices, but he chose instead to show customers a more detailed breakdown.
if he just raised all prices 3%tand didn’t say why, this clown probably wouldn’t have said anything or just accepted a general ‘everything’s going up, i gotta charge more’ answer.
The only problem I have is learning Camponile’s is gone.
Use to love eating lunch there and watching stars come and go.
Just say,”No!”
The guy thinks the 3% fee to cover ObamaCare taxes is “offensive”, maybe they should show how much in other Federal taxes are embedded in the cost of his meal. . . he would be a hell of a lot more than “offended”.
Hahahah... I gotta laugh... Mark Levin just mentioned this news piece as I type this and hit send.
I just moved from Los Angeles. Now live in the south west burbs of Chicago. I didn’t live far from Republique, La Brea Bakery was next door, but had to move up the street to La Brea and 3rd St. If these liberals think this 3% surcharge is outrageous wait until they finally figure out that when they sell their homes or investment properties that have a profit of over $250,000 they will now pay another 3.8% in Obamacare tax.
They should be taxing the rich hollywood libs...to help pay for healthcare for the “little people”...The Streisand Effect Tax Law!
I think it is better to tell people why the cost of their purchases is going up rather than bury it in another dime for the coffe and fifteen cents for the quiche.
That’s how it should be, instead of hiding the confiscation by the government. Instead of payroll withholding, we each ought to have to send a check to the Treasury every quarter. That would teach us something, like Amazon’s tax free sales taught us.
this is how at&t showed the charges on their new bill in the early 80’s. we designed the mobile bills after they decided this approach. show all the detailed taxes, fees etc and what the phone company is actually charging for phone service. remember how your phone bill got bigger.
This is a tax loophole. The restaurant could have easily raised the price of food. That would be taxable. The 3% Healthcare would not be. The owners were on BOR tonite.
Leaving a 15% tip to be divided among all non-salary personnel would be fine by me. The 3% needs to be coming out of the Owner/Managerial tightwads’ pockets. I refuse to be taxed even once for Obamacare, let alone for anyone else’s over and over again! Eaters of quiche, however, as they are subhuman, Ecotopian, Tree Hugging Obamanites, should pay for everyone’s healthcare.
I only want a Ham & Cheese Omlet, no side order of tax, thank you...
Here’s an article about Obamacare:
