OK...contradictions.Perhaps I didn't express myself clearly (which has been known to happen)...by "lifelong penalty" I wasn't talking about prison.IMO it's quite silly to sentence someone to life for a first offense of stealing $250.The "lifelong penalty" I was thinking of for such a conviction can,and should,be lifelong denial of voting rights...assuming that crime was classified as a felony.

There,that should clear things up.
