The swastika is a very old symbol in some oriental religions; Shinto, for one. While touring a shrine in Japan I was shocked to see multiple swastikas in the decor of a shrine building. When I questioned the tour guide, she informed the group that the swastika was being used long before Adolf came along and glommed onto it. I probably have an old Kodachrome slide somewhere, buried among my souvies.
