Republican congressional hopeful Bob Barr picked up the endorsement of Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio Thursday and criticized a key part of the House GOP blueprint for overhauling the nations immigration laws.
He was a great U.S. attorney, a great congressman, Arpaio said. That is why I am here to help him.
A former Libertarian presidential candidate, Barr is competing in a crowded Republican primary to replace U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey in Georgias 11th congressional district. Barr called Arpaio an international spokesman for good, solid, tough law enforcement.

Sorry Bob, you already jumped the shark long ago.
Bummer... First time I’ve ever disagreed with Sheriff Joe on anything.
Barr is a flake.

"I got some interesting news today. I have a friend that is an investigator and he had dinner with Zullo, Arapio, and Barr last Thursday night. According to him they did share some of the information they have gathered.
"I won't say exactly what they told him - I know, you hate that - but I will say that some here have been correct regarding the foreign student status.
"Additionally, should Barr win re-election (he was a congressman a few years back) he will be immediately launching an impeachment of Obama."

Barr on the ballot, in the General election, saved me from having to vote for McLame. I like Barr also on his own merit.
Certainly, he is not a typical permanent fixture in politics, and in my view sure had all the right enemies.
Barr is by far one of the smartest men in politics. His people skills are a bit lacking because of it. I’d put his IQ around 160.
I would vote for Barr over Boehner, Cantor, McCarthy, Upton, King (NY), Sessions or any number of other flakes in the GOP ranks right now.
Non-sequitur: Barr is part black.
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.[Posted on 03/19/2013 7:04:07 AM PDT by Perdogg]
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... Actually, this is on-topic. In 2008, not only did Barr have a better resume' for the Presidency than both McCain & Obama, Barr also had the advantage of not being a Panamanian or a (Kenyan) British subject. So, why didn't Barr make an issue of his opponents' birth status? Could it be because Barr didn't want to release his own birth certificate? What races might be listed on there?
