Thomas Sowell being a conservative black man is not now nor will he ever be a "mainstream pundit." He was always considered a right wing commentator. That is what makes this stab in the back of Ted Cruz so treacherous. While warning of the dangerous path we are headed on, he has engaged in firing shots at the people who are on the front lines fighting against that tyranny.
We are not going to end up being subjects to a tyrannical government because of men like Ted Cruz. We will end up there because of appeasers and cowards like Boehner and McConnell. We need an army of principled conservatives and we are stuck with an army of appeasers and turncoats.
Again I can't believe Sowell took this road. His point about the coming tyranny is lost by the fact that he is pointing his weapons at his own soldiers while at the same time giving ammunition to the enemy. Cruz is now caught in the middle, being attacked from all sides for simply standing for the principles he was elected to defend.
Treachery is common in warfare. I just didn't think I'd see it from people like Sowell.
I don’t understand his thinking in calling out Cruz, instead of the GOPe Quislings and cowards. But at least he put the Weimar-Nazi Germany idea out into the memestream. Who else of Sowell’s stature has done so?
