In the short run Cruise Ships make more money hiring third world staff - in the long that type of cost cutting destroys the illusion of the cruise being an affordable ‘upper class’ experience.
A tipping point is coming...
How else to explain the outbreak of so many sicknesses aboard ships these days? We should be MORE able to sanitize things, not less, so why the spread of sickness in this enclosed area? Are the ships not being serviced competently at ports or is it an onboard laxity? Are people taking cruises now more likely to be carrying illnesses or is it the staff? I’m not saying all foreign born employees are barbarians, but some are and the pay, conditions and combination of different cultural habits do contribute, IMO.
