I would put snipers on the buildings. When they tried to kill a policeman, a bullet through the skull

You said, "I would put snipers on the buildings. When they tried to kill a policeman, a bullet through the skull."

I don't think you understand what is going on over there. Their government is corrupt and wants to turn Ukraine back over to the Russians. They are rebelling against fraudulently elected president who has rewritten the constitution illegally to basically give himself dictatorial powers. The corrupt president has just accepted another several billion dollar loan from Russia. They are fighting for the last scraps of freedom that are about to be taken away from them.

Where were you when those same police were randomly targeting opposition leaders and torturing them to death?

That's the kind of escalation the police are apparently, for now at least, trying to avoid. Because there are enough people on both sides, with weapons, including potentially members of the police and armed forces, that it could end up with snipers on the buildings from both sides - and lots of them.

Nobody should advocate that kind of thing. Take a look at the news and videos from Syria to see where that kind of violence ends up. What is necessary is for both sides to calm down and move away from further violence.

Well, you might until you realize who the protesters are and what they have. Most of the protesters are older guys, VET types, not a bunch of long-hairs. Virtually all of them are armed with something. I’ve never seen so many pitchforks and long axes in one place. The police have good reason to be polite at the risk of a hatchet in the skull. At a minimum the protesters carry fighting sticks or baseball bats, also good reasons to be polite. Most of all, the Ukes are not your regular disarmed band or Euro trashes-—they have firearms. Note also that it’s police and not Uke military doing the dirty work here. Those old APC’s you see are leftover Russian vehicles since Ukraine just doesn’t have much of an actual military. It’s not like Egypt where Mubarak had his guys take some cheap shots at the protesters ——these protesters will bite back.

Nobody is playing nice now. Ive seen some videos of Putin's boys beating protesters pretty badly. And then there's this news item: “at least 20 police captured by the protesters” Most of these front line police are young kids basically. Cannon fodder. -I'm not sure there's a side to cheer for, its the Eurofascists vs the old Russian communists. It's a lose-lose situation.
