Lot of noise from the left on Citizens United but little about this.

Steyer supported the campaign of Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the 2013 Virginia Gubernatorial race through his NextGen Climate Action political committee. This support consisted primarily of releasing ads meant to portray McAuliffe’s rival, Ken Cuccinelli, as extreme on environmental issues, and in Get out the vote efforts.

He’s seems like Al Gore, global warming crony capitalist big on alternative energy. One nice thing about wasting other people’s money on uneconomical technologies is it’s a little cheaper to go completely off the grid now. We may need to.

He is attempting to buy elections and in this case it should be illegal.

Tom Steyer opposes, and will stop, the TransCanada Keystone XL pipeline because his Farallon Capital Management owns Kinder Morgan, which is pushing to expand a pipeline from Alberta to Vancouver; Nexen, one of Calgarys largest energy companies; and Potash Corp., the Saskatchewan mining giant. Farallon owns stakes in CB&I, a leading pipeline and oil platform manufacturer, and Union Pacific, one of many railroads moving more and more oil with existing pipelines full. Farallon also still holds stock in BP.
He's just a crony capitalist (Fascist) using the government to eliminate competition, and supply China with cheap oil at the same time.

I knew this billionaire was a Democrat just from reading the first two sentences of the posted article. A Republican, even a RINO, wouldn't be calling up the New York Slimes to boast about his planned meagabuck contributions.
BTW, aren't the Republicans supposed to be the party of the "1%" crowd? Seems like the 'Rats enjoy their share of contributions from the fat cats - in this case, one very much a political fat cat - even more.

What’s so special? Michael Huffington spent 28m for His Senate run, lost to DI FI by 2% — so sad as DI FI was damaged goods after getting bruised by Pete Wilson for while running for Governor.

Dems have a great lineup.
Crony capitalists to provide the $$.
Entitlement army to provide the votes.
This guy funds a lot of “issue” adverts that attack candidates rather than putting money into actual Democrat candidate campaign funds. So he avoids any “limits” on donations.
I’d bet he’s also funding libertarian/3rd party candidates who stand a good chance of bleeding R votes producing a Clintonian plurality win for the D side.
