Probably because the protests are too obscene to even show on local TV. They are capital-N Nutty - e.g. "let's protest patriarchal society by having a massive sex-a-thon in a museum". The chick who organized the whole thing got sentenced to a term in the labor camp - and she was 5-months pregnant.
I guess the chick in prison has been abandoned by her group. In prison she’s started campaigning against brutal and inhumane treatment in the prisons.
Her friends were like “What happened to ya girl? You’re supposed to be supporting important issues like gays and abortion! Why you keep talking about this prison crap?” so her friends have pretty much ditched her.
