Besides car accidents, I think drownings are the number 2 cause of accidental deaths in children.
Yeah, but you can’t convince these people with common sense. This isn’t about public safety at all. It is about control. I know, that’s an old refrain, and nothing new to the regulars here on FR... But it needs to be repeated, and we need to keep arguing back with common sense too.

That’s the big one alright. Almost 10 times as many children die by drowning each year as from accidental firearm injuries. From 1999-2010, the CDC says 11,640 drowning accidenfs and 1,375 accidental firearm fatalities in the same period among those 0-17 age range.
But that’s OK, because swimming pools are fun, and so is the beach.
