ROGERS, Minn. (KMSP) - The student body at Rogers High School has Reid Sagehorn's back.
"He's got the whole school behind him. We all believe this isn't right," junior Cole Murray said.
Sagehorn is a big man on campus. He's smart, good looking, captain of the football and basketball teams, a National Honor Society member with a 3.75 grade point average and plans to attend North Dakota State University in the fall. However, a certain Twitter conversation has banned him from school.
An anonymous tweet was posted suggesting Sagehorn may have made out with a young, attractive gym teacher at the school. Thinking nothing of it, he responded with a cynical, "Actually, yes" even though there was no relationship between the two.
A district parent noticed the exchange and reported it. Administrators weren't laughing and barred the 17-year old from school.

I realize this. But why on earth couldn’t they interview thew teacher and student, investigate and find who started the rumors, and use some basic sense? Why on earth is the student suspended for 2 months!!!
He didn’t kiss her.
Interesting times we live in with regards to Twitter and social media. If this boy had been in his front yard and a student teased him about making out with a teacher... it would have been his first amendment right to say, “yes”. His phone belongs to him or his parents. Chances are he was off property of the school when he responded to a tweet. I personally see this as a free speech issue vs a school violation issue. I am NOT saying that you can tweet whatever you would like.. for example, blowing up a school etc.. However, our county is setting up a “Cybercivility Task force” to deal with the students who tweet NEGATIVE comments about MCPS superintendent, schools, teachers, classes etc... It is no longer seen as freedom of speech if students say that Mr. X’s biology class is boring. It is bullying. Long story short.. I hope they let this poor kid alone so he can finish out his high school year. IMHO.
So they post the name and pictures of the minor student but don’t have a single picture or name the teacher.
I assume it was a female young attractive gym teacher. If it were a male they would be giving the kid an award.
Perhaps she filed a charge of sexual harassment so she remains an unnamed ‘victim’. One news source states police involvement.

Maybe here’s a clue or two as to what’s behind the issue. There’s a reference in the petition.

Quick update: about a month ago, EREA filed for mediation related to contract settlement. We were notified by the bureau of mediation services that we have been assigned a mediator, and will have our first meeting on Jan. 28. Also, new EREA union-made shirts have been ordered for teachers, and should arrive soon. Good luck on the first day back tomorrow!
He should claim he’s a lesbian trapped in a boy’s body, and couldn’t help himself and had to kiss the hot teacher. He can then threaten to report the school to the UN LGBT task-force and lodge crimes against humanity charges.
Video at link. Superintendent mentions harassment. Did the union file on her behalf? One news source references a police investigation. The petition cites a union contract issue. Stinks.

This all started last month when Reid Sagehorn, an honor roll student, responded to a rumor on Twitter. An anonymous post said the high school senior was kissing a teacher, according to Curt Sagehorn, Reid’s father.
Sagehorn responded with “Actually, yes,” which his father said was sarcasm. But school officials didn’t find that funny. Sagehorn was suspended from school until April 22.
“This has been a very emotional experience for all people involved. There’s a lot of hurting people throughout the system,” Bezek said.
Bezek did not name the teacher and did not know how long she has been at the school but did confirm she is still teaching. The elder Sagehorn said his son barely knew the teacher mentioned in the tweet.
Bezek said the district has an online code of conduct and Sagehorn’s tweet violated that code. He hopes this incident teaches students to be careful about what they read and post on the internet.
“data privacy”
“under active police investigation”
“advised not to comment by our lawyer”
pick one or all of the above.
Still necessary to suspend the student for 2 months????
The kid is a retard for responding like that
My civics teacher drove a Corvette, and she had waist length red hair, so she was hot. My math teacher drove her husband's Ford Torino at times.
National Honor Society member ...Future Nobel Peace Prize winner?
If he is lefty enough and he fellates them enough, he can get it
The teacher had zero to do with any of this and yet students are now abusing and harassing her like she is the bad guy.
Poor woman, her reputation was indeed damaged.
The student did something stupid
Now a lot of them are doing things even worse
