In the latest poll out of Texas by Human Events-Gravis Marketing, theres some trouble for current Senator John Cornyn who is running for re-election.
When asked if the election were held today, would you vote for Republican Steve Stockman or Republican John Cornyn? Cornyn holds a 15-point lead, 43% to 28% Stockman, while 29% of the voters are still undecided.
Douglas Kaplan of Gravis Marketing said, Congressman Stockman is much closer than expected. Cornyn is under 50% with a significant amount still undecided, which is dangerous territory for an incumbent. The poll was conducted before Cornyns recent cloture vote on raising the debt limit, which could hurt him among conservative primary voters.
When asked if they approve of Rep. Stockman, 55% said theyre unsure while 28% approved and 18% disapproved. When asked the same about Sen. John Cornyn 49% said they approve, 26% disapprove and 24% were unsure.
The poll was conducted between 2/10/14 and 2/12/14, 729 likely Republican voters articulated in the phone survey. The poll has margin of error 3.6%

Conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt said on his radio program the other day that all of the Senators and Congressmen under attack by the Tea PartyCornyn, Graham, McConnell, Boehner, etc.will survive the primaries.

I bet he was one of the political pundits who predicted that Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst with all of his money, endorsements and name recognition would slaughter Ted Cruz. Cruz won by 8 percentage points. Kiss my a** Hugh Hewitt.
Remember this folks: Rule of Thumb says that 85 percent of the undecided vote ALWAYS goes to the challenger(s).
This independent conservative will be voting in the GOP primary for Steve Stockman who is my current congressman.
Hewitt’s conservative when he feels like it, but sometimes nearly approaches O’Reillian levels of “moderateness.” Pushed Romney for prez early on, to the point of writing a book about it.
I stopped listening to Hewitt after he shut down a caller with a straw man argument who was simply attempting to rationally discuss the basis for Islamic terrorism. Hewitt proclaimed that the man was trying to say that “all Muslims are terrorists.” He didn’t seem to be going there, but no one will ever know for sure because Hewitt shut him down.
It is still “safe” for cornyn.
I have noticed a number of nobody dead enders poping up here on FR. These are effectivly vote splitters.
Are there any dead enders in these texas primaries?
With early voting starting tomorrow and Cornyn’s debt ceiling vote debacle
still fresh and on the minds of Texas conservatives, It looks like Cornyn will
be forced into a run-off.
And that is a great thing.
It will energize conservatives nationwide since the primary is so early.
Quite the opposite. Hugh is a moderate with an occasional conservative position.
I’m inclined to believe you. Either way, I can’t stand to listen to him any more.
If Cornyn is pushed into a run-off, the money and support start flowing to his challenger. Just like happened with Cruz/Dewhurst.
Cornyn is far from safe at this point. He has 7 challengers to keep him from getting to 50%+1.

the zombie vote will go to the insider.
‘freeeeee stufff”
“frreeeeee stufff”
so it is only a two man primary?
Right now, there are a total of 8 in the race, including Cornyn. That's 7 other candidates to take votes and keep Cornyn under 50%.

Ted is the best RINO hunter out there right now.
IN TEXAS: If no candidate gets 50% of the vote there will be a run-off between the top 2 vote getters only. It does not matter what their total vote is, just so they are the top 2 in the race. One could get 49% and the candidate with the second most could have 20%. Thats the two in the run-off. In the last Senate Race here in TX between Ted Cruz and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, the well-entrenched, Establishment candidate, Dewhurst just missed getting 50% of the vote by 70,000 votes. But, in the run-off, Ted Cruz beat him by 8 percentage points. We’ve got to get John Cornhole in a run-off election.
If you know anyone who is voting for John Cornyn, remind them that the GOP Primary in Tx is March 5th.
(Yes, I know it’s March 4th, but hopefully the uninformed lemmings don’t know that.)
I don’t live in Texas. But conservatives nationwide will be hoping you
Texans send Cornyn into a run-off and then kick his teeth in.
