Stanley Kubrick used that overture to illustrate a bit of the old ultraviolence over 40 years ago.

“A Clockwork Orange”. One of my favorites. Rather prophetic.

The parallels to the Bourbon King Louis of France grows ever more apparent with each passing day.
Maximilian Robespierre led the way for the removal of Louis XVI, and the subsequent Reign of Terror. Is that what we want for that territory once known as “The United States of America”?

Interesting comparison. The roots of the Occupy Wall Street movement are in the French Revolution, as the Tea Party movement’s roots are in the American Revolution.

Obama really meant "Oh! the state I'm in".
He must have been referring to the seven of fifty seven he'd plan on campaigning in but couldn't find it on a map.

By the way, I came back to have you note that this rendition is performed live and that in all the years I've enjoyed the "Thieving Magpie" this is by far the most masterful, beautifully performed, version I've ever heard.
So many new sounds, instruments, never having heard in the two-dimensional sterile recording most will end up listening to.

I like to use classical music for the background in my videos(most of them now deleted). I had to listen to 100s on You Tube it get the sound that was just right.
Now that I know it was used in Clockwork Orange it seems even more correct.

I would ask people if they liked classical music and most would say no.
then I would ask them if they liked the old cartoons and when they said yes then I would tell them that the old catoons all had classical music

Speaking of prophetic movies of that era, I recommend “Wild in the Streets”. That movie for example, predicted down to the last detail the Clinton’s abuse of FBI files for political purposes.

the old cartoons all had classical music Do you know why? For a lot of us of my generation, Warner Brothers cartoons were our introduction to classical music :) Why did they have that music? I dunno.
