Imagine going to the dentist for a free regular checkup, and getting a free $25 gift card in return. Its happening right here in Pennsylvania, and taxpayers are paying for all of it. Every year, Pennsylvania spends $20 billion to provide medical care to low-income and disabled residents. But one of the biggest problems the state has is getting people to use those medical services for preventative care. Now a new program designed to address that problem has some people outraged. "I am upset." Michelle Tonkin is seeing red thanks to a Walmart gift card, which she recently got in the mail. I thought it was a joke at first. I really, really did, explained Tonkin. Tonkins daughter, Molly, has an intellectual disability. For the last 20 years, shes been on Gateway, a form of Medicaid.

Do what to the dentist?
Why not gift certificates to a tattoo parlor?
Clean his teeth?
“Let’s do it to them before they do it to us!”
Can’t buy a gold grill for no $25
Obama’s “Coup d’etat” is long over. All he is doing now is cleaning up the loose ends to insure the dictatorship for generations to come. When LBJ signed the law implementing the “War on Poverty” he rightly declared(privately) ,”We have locked up the Black vote (he used the more common term of the day) for the next 50 years”. He underestimated himself.
So giving people free stuff isn’t enough? Pennsylvania is going to bribe them to use free services?
They really should just cut out the middle man, and give people debit cards that are tied to a responsible person’s savings account. The responsible person can pile the savings up, and the irresponsible person can drain it away.
I think I understand..?
They’re kind of behind the times. In L.A. medical dental mills have been providing free transportation and financial incentives for decades. Most of the parents won’t bring in their kids for a service that’s “only” free.
MediCal
"The cards are issued per person. So, if a family of five all go to the dentist, that family will get $125 to spend at Walmart with no restrictions courtesy of the taxpayer."
How much Colt 45 or Mad Dog 20/20 can they buy for $125 ???
Why not pay people to take a shower too? Or to put clothes on when they go out of the house every day? Or every day that goes by that you don’t rape or murder someone, let’s give them a $25 gift card.
Better yet, let’s let everyone do what they want. If they don’t go to the dentist and their teeth rot out, that’s not my problem.
Ok. And what about the people who can’t *&%$#(*^ afford to go to the dentist and who are paying for all this?
“One recent study from the University of Maryland found in Medicare patients that one visit a year to the dentist saved $250 a year in the long term by limiting expensive operations. DPW hopes to replicate those results in Pennsylvania”
.
Doesn’t anyone proof read anymore?
I now I alwasy do.
At some black-oriented website, afroc.com or something, they’re talking about how because they they are “vehicle challenged”, they should be able to have their groceries delivered after placing orders on the internet (using their ebt cards, and the delivery free, don’t know if the internet is free, but I don’t doubt that they think it should be). We really have created a class of parasites, and a class of unwilling hosts who are forced by government to support them. That also sounds like slavery.
I don’t know about Medicare but I know that in Washington State Medicaid provides dental services to children and adults (adults since Jan 1st). No gift certificates yet, though.
