A growing group of Ted Cruzs Republican Senate colleagues are infuriated with his tactics.
So frustrated was Arizona Senator John McCain with the latest, forcing fellow Republicans to take a politically risky vote on lifting the debt ceiling, that yesterday he tweeted a Wall Street Journal editorial accusing the Texas lawmaker of instigating needless drama that helps to explain why Republicans remain a minority.
Yet theres not much McCain, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell or other Republicans can do to change Cruzs behavior.
In this day and age, there are no tools available to a leader to punish a member like Senator Cruz, especially because Senator Cruz doesnt care what either the leader or the rest of his caucus thinks, said Jim Manley, a former top aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat.
Cruzs insistence Feb. 12 on a 60-vote threshold to advance legislation lifting the nations borrowing cap foiled his party leaderships plan to let the measure move forward with only Democratic votes. He led the October fight to defund the 2010 health care law, resulting in a partial government shutdown and the partys cratering in public opinion polls.
The Republican Partys favorability was at a record low of 28 percent in a Gallup Poll conducted Oct. 3-6, during the shutdown. That was down 10 percentage points from the previous month and 15 points below Democrats.

The big-spending, amnesty-loving RINOs are wrong. Tea Party antics are not causing the abysmal ratings of Congress. The polls are low because many conservatives tell pollsters that they hate RINOs in Congress.
Congress and the Republicans would be rated a lot higher if RINOs added some spine and joined with the tea party in promoting a clear, CONSERVATIVE vision for America.
McCain and his boys....
"If the liberal you're arguing with doesn't become speechless with sputtering, impotent rage, you're not doing it right. People don't get angry when lies are told about them; they get angry when the truth is told about them. If you are not being called outrageous by liberals, you're not being outrageous enough. Start with the maximum assertion about liberals and then push the envelope, because as we know, their evil is incalculable... Nothing too extreme can be said about liberals, because it's all true. (Ann Coulter, How to talk to a liberal (if you must), 2004, p. 12)
They seem actually upset that Cruz embarrassed the lilly livered poltroon RINOs.
The world wonders why.
I like it when some light is shined on cockroaches.
Ted Cruz wasn’t elected to the Senate to make sure the RINO leadership stays in power. Its not his responisbility to do their bidding.
Keep it Up Cruz, God Bless Ya!
The real story in my mind is that there are thousands of lying, propaganda spreading writers like this Kathleen Hunter. They are willing tools for the left that craft endless articles of half truths and outright lies in order to enrich themselves at the expense of freedom.
They’re active, lying participants in destroying people’s lives and they know it. I don’t understand how they get away with it? How are they not ridiculed and shunned everywhere they go? Are they part of a secret hidden society?I have known one “journalist” in my life and he quit the business years ago.
There isn’t one person in the press I would spit on if they were on fire. They’re liars that are actively destroying the America we’ve always know and they should be ridiculed wherever they go.
Its cute the way the media is leaping to the defense of the GOPe.
They are the personification of the problem.
First of all, they believe Cruz should be “punished”. I’d love to see McCain punished for crimes committed when he was in the navy.
Second, the republican leaders wanted it to move forward with just democratic votes. Then why vote with them, McCain and McConnell? What they did was make it BI-PARTISAN! If the gop does not change I will never vote again.
What the hell were the people thinking when the 17th was ratified? If that wasn’t the case conservative governors and state legislatures could fire McConnell and McCain and Cornyn.
McCain is the Left’s go to name for “Republican” anchors of “rationality”.
They loved him so much they voted for him in the 2000 GOP primary.
They even voted for him in the 2008 primary. Democrats were on McCain’s presidential campaign team as far back as 2006. Of course, after he got the GOP nomination, they switched teams to work for the Obama campaign (and knew the innerworkings and contacts within the GOP campaign).
Stalinsts lie. Always.

Apparently they were worried about corruption and political payoffs in electing senators. I don’t doubt that it went on but electing senators by popular vote has been a disaster.
I would rather elect senators on an electoral type of system where the winner of most districts wins
If Johnny McInsane is unhappy that fills me with joy

Yes but this is San Francisco. How do people in Cincinnati or Minneapolis think?
“At some point in your career, you will have to choose between being someone or doing something.”
