Predictably, USA Today's Coverage of Nagin's Conviction Omits His Dem Party ID

Former New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin was convicted on 20 of 21 counts of corruption and bribery today.

USA Today reporter Rick Jervis did a bit of a profile of Nagin in the course of reporting on the convictions. It included a recounting of the his time at the city's helm during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. But one thing it oh-so-predictably did not include was Nagin's Democratic Party affiliation

Remember when he was a “great moral force” denouncing Bush for not acting quickly enough after Katrina, while the governor of LA was telling Bush to hold off?

I did not post the link on purpose, because articles by USA Today can not be posted due to copyrights complains from the Gannet Group, who owns USA Today

No mention of his race either. Black Democrat—neither is mentioned.

And of course no mention of George Bush, who took all the blame.

There is a photo, but it’s actually hard to tell from that that he’s black, if you don’t already know it.

Unfortuantely, the comments are only available to Facefarque users.

Why is it that so many assume everyone uses that airhead social crap?

If there was a photo, the defense of “not stating the obvious” might actually be valid.

Upon further consideration, I look at this case as yet another example of the Federal government’s “one size fits all” policy - by failing to understand and adjust to local customs.

Want more proof? Pick any notorious “R” or “D” and then Google (using either quotes, or using advance search / exact phrase) their party affiliation in front of their name. Examples:

“Republican Todd Akin” = 137,000 results
“Democrat Marion Barry” = 45 results

Proof positive that party affiliation gets consistently omitted by the MSM for any “D” who falls from grace.
