Rand Paul, the U.S. senator from Kentucky and an all-but-certain contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, is hitting Democratic Party claims to be the party for women with attacks on Bill Clintons infidelity with an intern in the White House.
Is it a political maneuver to tarnish top rival Hillary Clinton with guilt by association? Of course. Is Paul taking aim at a popular Democratic Party fundraiser, just as the former president is about to campaign for 2014 candidates, including Alison Lundergan Grimes, who is challenging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in Pauls own state of Kentucky? You bet.
Does Pauls charge contain some truth? Certainly. Though the sheen of former president Bill Clintons era of peace and prosperity obscures memories of his Oval Office indiscretions, and the globe-trotting statesman is more popular than ever, its impossible to dismiss Monica Lewinsky as old and not very relevant news. (Really, could you imagine Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama or either Bush thinking an affair with an intern was a good idea? It was indeed the lapse in judgment and character that critics always claimed.)

According to Juanita Broadrick, Hillary was a major part of intimidating her into being quiet...not one who ignored it.
I would note, that in the televised interview afterwards, Lewinski came across as a having the emotional functionality and maturity of a 12 year old. I note that others watching it calculated the same functional age. She was like a pre-teen playing at grown up sex toy. That made it a whole different level of creepy predator.
Remember the “one free grope” argument from prominent feminists?
While that may be true, the actual rapes and “sexual assaults” are creepier to me; not that the Lewinsky matter isn’t creepy in its own right. Kudos to Rand Paul for saying what many of us have been thinking. It’s also why he can’t ever be the nominee, much less President. He says stuff like that, and I hope he keeps on saying it and more.
