On Saturday, a police officer in Filer, Idaho responded to a call about two dogs running around without leashes on a suburban street. Thirty-eight seconds after exiting his patrol car, Officer Tarek Hassani determined that one of the animals was too aggressive and fatally shot it in the front yard of its owner's house. A video ...shows the 7-year-old black labrador convulsing and whimpering before moving out of the dash cam's line of sight.
The dog, named Hooch, belonged to Rick Clubb, who says he suffers from Parkinson's disease and that Hooch was his trained service animal. At the time of the shooting, Clubb was apparently inside, hosting his 9-year-old son's birthday party....
Police Chief Tim Reeves explained to a local Fox affiliate, "My decision was that [Hassani] did a good job and he was totally justified in putting the dog down."

One day, a enforcer is going to shoot at someone’s dog and the someone is going to shoot back.
If I sit on that jury I know how I’ll vote.
cops seem to like to kill dogs???.....IMO many cops act tough to make up for their other unmentionable manly man assets...
Sorry.
Not buying this totally bogus sob story.
The "service dog" meme fails; the dog was outside running loose. Not much servicing (or the phony need for it) in evidence. Irresponsible dog owners are an epidemic.
Evidently some neighbors, much closer to the problem than the author of this phony story, thought there was enough of concern to call the authorities.
First off, this is not something the police are supposed to handle, unless the dogs are threatening people. It should be handled by animal control because they are equipped to deal with it without shooting the animals. Everywhere I have lived the police make it quite clear they are not dealing with dogs unless there is genuine danger to people. This was totally uncalled for in dealing with a loose dog that wasn’t threatening anyone.
The officer is a jack booted idiot, his superior is a jerk backing an idiot.
I listened to how he talked to the owner after he shot the dog. IMO the prick went there with the intention of kicking ass in some fashion.
was it anything like the zoo slaughtering a giraffe in front of kids?
How's that border control going for you? Now we've got armed Moslem terrorists in Idaho of all places.
There was no indication that the dog was threatening humans, just running loose. Which should be dealt with. But this was not a police matter, it was an animal control matter. Forget the service dog stuff, that’s baloney.
Most dogs will growl at strangers intruding on their territory. That is perfectly normal.
You go onto someone’s property unannounced, knowing they have a dog, you better expect to be growled at. That doesn’t give you the right to shoot the dog in its own yard.
Boy, you know these incidents are becoming more common (and the populace is ever anti-cop) because the usual gang of uLEO bootlickers have virtually disappeared from FR.
I saw that story, didn’t read it though.
My first thought too. Who is this guy? I wonder if he is a member of the ROP? I do not know.
Tip o’ the day: If you live in a town that has anything that even remotely resembles an “Officer Tarek Hassani”... move.
Ditto if you live in a country that has anything remotely resembling a President “Tarek Hassani Obama”.
cops will get no help from many, many people because of gestapo bullsh1t stuff like this.
if a cop kills a police dog - like letting it roast and die in a squad car - they get a write-up, no job loss, no jail time.
us cops are the new muslims. killing dogs regular muslims are still too scared to kill - for now.
friggin muslim asshole jihadi masquerading as an american cop.
and the chief gives him total cover. sick.
Speaking of which, Hassani sounds like that sort of name.
It reminded me of an article that I read this morning which to me shows that some of them think they are above the law.
Article here: http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2014/feb/11/florida-highway-patrol-trooper-who-stopped-and-arr/
In a nutshell, it is about a Florida Highway Patrol trooper who pulled over what turned out to be a police officer going 120 MPH in his personal car. She (the trooper) cuffs him, news and video gets out and he is fired.
Later she gets harassed at her home and gets harassing calls on her cell phone. Turns out other cops illegally accessed her driver's license data and used the information to harass her.
She is suing those agencies and officers under a law that allows for $2500 penalties for each violation.
Here's the kicker. Police agencies involved are seeking changes in the law so that looking up someones personal D/L information without legitimate reason is okay, or at least carries no monetary penalty.
Not only the department will be sued over the loss of the dog...but also ADA violation. That stupid Police Chief should have shut this mouth....his mouth increased the settlement amount
