A catheter insertion on male or female is equally as painful. What is worst is insertion of a nasogastic tube. It is bad for both sexes, both procedures.

not according to any of the women I have asked, but then again, the birth process suggests a higher pain tolerance

I have to agree with you about a nasogastic tube. Fifty years ago I had one inserted that had a plastic bag attached to the end. After insertion they used a syringe to fill the bag with mercury to hold it in place.

Long story short: When trying to remove it the mercury would not be drawn out using the syringe. They finally just yanked it out in a mess of mucus, blood and mercury. The mercury that I passed never flushed out of the toilet.
